I take it you haven't seen the kit and/or a 917 in person? A real 917 is about 3-4 feet longer, 1 foot wider, and 2 feet lower than the kit. It's built on an original VW Beetle pan.

The sexy LAZER 917, built by a very smart Brit, by the name of Bradley. He made a FORTUNE selling these type of cars to us dumb Yanks. so much so he has (had?) a real 917 in his collection

Those are really not very good looking. A kit car Speedster I can see, a great car to drive around, but these, yuk.

That's what I thought you meant, but like you say, nice ones are pretty high dollar these days. Go to tube frame and good suspension, big motor, lotsa bucks.
