Miniature "dessert" spoons...
Ortgies .25 and .32 and a Ruger LCP in .380 for size comparison. I'm trying to work out a trade with these Ortgies pistol to get a Colt 1903 Hammerless... Very small and easy to conceal...

Nice, the smaller trigger guards looks like it means more room for your fingers on the grip.

Yes, they really fit my hand nicely, but a person with large hands might have an issue. The concealability means there's a trade-off (small caliber, no sights, short barrel, etc...).

I really want a nice 1903 in .380ACP. I have one with a bad barrel. The piston is Gen 2, but the barrel is gen 3. I think I can make with work with some machine work...
Anyway, I'd like to find a nice condition Gen 3 in .380, but the buggers are getting 'spensive...

Yep, the 1903 I want is a Gen 1 (.32) with the barrel bushing. I love those guns and I would send it to David (targa911s) to be refinished/blued and then cherish it! The Ortgies are nice, but they are a little too finicky for me and are not meant to be shot a lot at the range as they are concealed personal defense guns.

My wife has put over 1,100 of my reloads through her LCP with no issues. The Ruger isn't a fun gun to shoot because it's small, light and packs a significant recoil!

I have an Ortgies .32 that just sits in my safe. The firing pin ears were shorn off when I bought it on a lark (unbeknownst to me). I managed to locate a new FP but it needs some fitting.
Want another Ortgies .32? ![]() ![]() I have a .32 1903 that's in desperate need of refinishing. They're a hoot to shoot. I love little pistols. I should take some pics of mine sometime...

BlueSky,
Send your 1903 to David (targa911s), he does great work! Have you seen the pics he's posted of his 1903? Beautiful!

The Colt .32 are nice, I also have a Baretta .25 Jetfire with the tilt up barrel that is pretty handy.

What's a good price these days for a 1903 in 380? $799 seems too high to me.

I've found a re-blue gen 3 for $625 and a (so they say) 90% for $825.

I would rather have a worn original finish than a reblue..

Dessert spoons........
In the last year or so, I have acquired both a 1903 and a 1908 Colt. The 1903 is nickled with the Colt pearl grips and the 1908 is blued with walnut grips. The 1908 was made in 1930, is about 98% and shoots/functions perfectly. The 1903, made in 1914, is about 90% and appears to function correctly, but I haven't had an opportunity to shoot it yet. The only real difference between the two is that the 1908 is a few 1/100ths thicker than the 1903. It is easy to understand why these models stayed in production for so long! One or both of these models should be an integral part of anybody's collection.

I just sent out the 3 Ortgies to the guy who's trading me the Colt 1903 Hammerless, mfg'd in 1907. I just replaced the springs in my neighbor's WWII vintage Walther PP and he's very happy with the results. I'll talk to David (targa911s) about rebluing the new pistol when he's done with the Remington Model 51. I like having the Curios and Relics FFL as it makes it much easier and cheaper to trade/buy/sell these old spoons!

I'm thinking of getting a concelable .38 because a .32 has no stopping power. I think sights are better for 50+ft distance. The reason I'm looking is work related, CCWP in hand.

Cool magazine I picked up today...
I picked up this magazine at John King Used Books in Detroit today because my Remington Model 51 is at 7 O'clock and my newly purchased Colt 1903 Hammerless is at 9 O'clock. I looked for books on the Walther and Colts, but they didn't have any, just the "encyclopedia of guns" types of books that are a mile wide and an inch deep in terms of information...
