Inconspicuous car. A good one?

What would you say is the most inconspicuous car. I seen a private investigator yesterday, driving this bright blue H2. I said to myself, not exactly the thing I'd want to use for covert surveillance work!

I say a dark gray or tan Camry would would be the best car to use for that kind of thing or to tail someone. Least likely to stand out.

What say you??

My best friend's dad is a retired federal agent. He still does the odd background check and surveillance job from time to time. He works out of a 3/4 ton four door Chevy truck. They're a dime a dozen in rural MS.

When the retired agent/contractor did my initial field interview, ~8 years ago, he was driving a late 90's, burgundy, Chrysler T&C.

I agree -- there are probably more Camrys around the world than any other car. However, if I were a private investigator, I would likely still not get a Camry since they are the most anemic, most boring (and most perfectly made) car in the world! I would rather pour honey on my body and stand on an ant hill than have to drive that car.

Older Volvo 240 series wagon with a 5.0L and toploader 5 spd conversion. You can't get any inconspicuous than that, and you'll have plenty of scoot when you need it.

Some people actually like doing stuff like this...

-----------------

Hey why not drive something that screams look at me.

Because so many people drive cars like that now a "normal" beige sedan would stand out more.

Invisible Car......

I once had a Pinto station wagon with the wood grain trim on the sides and back. I could drive it 10 or 15 miles per hour faster than any other car and the police completely ignored it. It was as close to invisible as anything on the road! Ran good too!

What does that say about the average buyer out there?

I'm with Z Man and the honey trick. You'll never get me in anything made by Toyota. (That includes Lexus)

Hey, my corolla is boring as ****, but it has NEVER left me standing beside the road, and it gets 35-40mpg. I can't say either of those things about the 944 or the M3.

And honestly for commuting on the interstate, it doesn't matter what you drive, its gunna be a boring drive...
