Value of a 1991 BMW 318i?

What's the value of a 1991 BMW 318i in excellent condition?

I'm going to look at one tomorrow. I don't have any interest in a rocket sled. Just a car to get around. Not sure about the 90 mile business. 90k maybe? Has cloth vs leather interior.

91 bmw 318is 5speed, inmaculate condition, v4 #1owner, 90miles, 34mpg - $3900 (raleigh)

im selling my bmw 318 is , 4 cylinder, 2 doors, 5 speed, inmaculate condition , looks like new, we always keep the car inside the garage, #1 owner , the vehicle came from germany, we have all maintainance record, EVERYTHING, ac cold, heat work, inside is in excellent condition ,you must come see it. we paid total of : 18,950$
driver airbag, bmw light alloy wheels, electric central, locking system, sunroof manual, electric window lifts front, warning triangle and first aid kit, bmw sports seats for driver and passenger, air condition, outside temperature display and digital clock, bmw sound system,,, VIN: WBAAF9318MEE67719.

With 90K on the clock, I would say between $1,500 and $1,900.

Assuming the car is in fantastic shape, suspension and interior is good. $3900 is about on the mark. They didnt make a lot of them and they are becoming somewhat of a cult car.

Only the 1991 318is has the cult following. It used the 142hp M42 DOHC 1.8L, not the old M10 engine. A lot of people consider the 318is to be the best handling BMW ever made.

It seems on the high end but I've seen early model E30 dogs going for $1500-2000 lately.

the '91 318is is a cult car. There is a following similar to the 914.

Speedy

Running a Carfax it comes up registered in NC back in 91 or so, then no records after that...

That's kinda strange isn't it?

Thinking about the VIN, is there a VIN decoder? Any things to look for? I'm green as a gourd when it comes to BMW's.

Control arm bushings, rear subframe bushings, Rear upper shock mounts, Valve cover profile gasket, shift linkage bushings. Those are the main wear items.

Doesn't that just confirm the one-owner claim?

These are sweet little cars. A good friend had one for quite a while. Handling is really great, and it ha a very solid feel. The biggest downside was that there is practically no bottom end to the engine. You really need to get it up around 4k and above where it really sings.

It sounds like this is a pretty pristine car, and is likely worth the asking price (what the heck else are you going to buy for under $4k?)

Downing Atlanta supercharger kit fixes everything...

These cars came with pretty much all the options for the E30, sports seats, either a 4.10 or 3.73 LSD, bigger sway bars, rear spoiler, "M" steering wheel and they are the only E30's to come with blacked out window trim.

They are very cool cars and quite fun to drive once sorted out.

Good info guys. Thanks.

The way my luck is running, the guy will probably sell it before I get there. I've missed out on about 6 great deals lately.

I drive the e36 version everyday, same engine. ~220k and counting, 31mpg every tank. If you can deal with the pedestrian acceleration they are fine at speed. Turn off the ac and downshift for hills though. I bet mine is worth ~1k, this e30 must be nice.

Post some pictures if you end up getting it. I've had mine for nearly 10 years and it still gets more use than the various 'modern' daily drivers I've purchased to replace it. Great little cars.

Took a look at the car. It's all original and in great shape. There are a few spots where the owner has done some paint touch ups. Engine, trunk and interior were immaculate. I found no paint work except on the driver
door.

Meeting up again shortly to close the deal.

Anybody need a 2001 F150 SuperCrew w/ 5.4, 188k, etc?
