Legality of football pool in California
I know of a guy running a football pool with a few thousand participants. There's a heck of a pot to be divided at the end of the season.
This guy is taking 10% of the pot as an administration fee, and that's stated up front. Don't like his rules, don't join his pool My (limited) understanding of California law is that a sports pool is legal as long as the pot is divided amongst the winners. Since he's taking a fee, seems to me he's run afowl. Anybody here have some insight into this? Is this sort of thing kind of a non-event as long he's not raking in millions? |

That, according to the folks on a linguistics forum, is a transcript of Serene Branson's Grammy broadcast. Very interesting that she managed the rhythm and metre of normal english speach but could only string together nonsense syllables. Thankfully it appears not to be anything serious, although I'm sure it was completely unnerving.
I don't mean to make light of it, but I find it interesting and thought others might too. Ok, so what's the answer? ![]() |

Well, there you have it. Thanks - couldn't seem to find a trustworthy source.
