Recommendation for All In One Printer

I currently have an HP PSC 1210xi, actually pleased with how well it has done for us and only costing about $90. I would like to get a bigger printer, one that can print faster, hold paper in a paper tray for multiple page scanning. I also want it to print photos. Costco has an HP Officejet Pro 8500A wireless on sale now, $100 off, (now $199.99.) I have a Costco near me and it's easy to just go there and buy ink. I only have experience with HP and was pleased with my first one.

Anyone have a good recommendation for an all in one printer, copy, scanner, fax in the ~$200 range? Epson, Kodak, Brother etc..?

just discussed

Cheapest, reliable home office printer?

I think a Dell laser is hard to beat.

FYI: If you have need for an 11"x17" scanner, color printer and fax which also does 8-1/2"x11" there is only one on the market for $300.

Brother MFC-6490CW

The aftermarket ink by "Premium" is pretty cheap, but copies using good paper and Brother ink are just fair at best. Also 20lb paper in the 11x17" jambs, so you have to use the more expensive 32lb paper.

Despite all the flaws it is 1/10th the price of anything else which can do the same.

The scanner at it's high setting is pretty good. I've scanned 11'x17' watercolors and had the commercial printer blow them up to 24"x36" for me with just modest fade-out.

There are loading trays for smaller photo paper and all sorts of built-in card readers.

I don't use half of it's features, but they are there if I should ever need them.

Initial set-up is odd, I had to call customer service for help, and got good help.

If you ever want to scan an open book or centerfold, this is the unit to get.

This is a timely thread, just today my HP all-in-one went titz up, this is the 3rd one i've had.
I just saw on Costco on line they have the Brother MFC-6490CW for $149.

I would like to be able to print on 8.5 x 11 as well as 11 x 17 paper.

I was at Office Depot today to get some other stuff & while looking at their selection of printers, the staff had nothing good to say about Brother ink jet printers.

Should i get the Brother from Costco, or hold out for something better?

I'd really like something that uses toner rather than ink, maybe i should look for a used biz hub or something similar that can print on 11 x 17 and 8.5 x 11

My tech support dept. just grabbed a spare printer they had, threw it in a box and mailed it to me, so I was unable to use any of the great suggestions in my previous thread. But thanks anyway.

I just happen to have that same Brother... had no problems whatever with it, and paid a little more for it when it first came out. The auto feed on scanning is great, and will do my vintage 11 x 17 magazine scans easily with no jambs thus far. The ink isn't cheap... but the images are just beautiful.

I also have a new Lexmark Pro 901. It's just "ok"... feeder isn't as good as the Brother, I've ended up using it primarily as just an office printer for most black and white stuff.

I've heard that if you have a laser printer it's a good idea to re-fill the toner
