Okay, what kind of havoc will the super moon cause in the next few days?

None. This happens every 18 years, but every year, the moon moves a little farther from the earth, so this year it's not as close as it was 18 years ago.

It was HUGE looking yesterday at about 6 AM as it was going down. You could see a bigger difference than usual.

Other than the moon's size, I've noticed nothing, but my face getting little furrier...

It is fun to take long exposure pictures late at night with the full moon to get a daylight effect with the stars present. Here are a couple I took last night:

Not going to see it, rain, and more rain

as for adverse effects, I expect to see dogs and cats sleeping together, flaming locusts falling from the sky, that sort of thing

We ran outside with the kids to watch it rise over the canyon edge. I thought it was cool but they were "ho hum". And now it's raining...

Lunar perigee coincides closely with the full moon roughly every 14 months. At perigee (closest approach of the moon to earth) the moon looks about 7% large than the average full moon. It will be a bit hard to notice. Lat time perigee and full moon coincided so perfectly was ~19 yrs ago. Next "supermoon" will be May 6, 2012.
