Computer ??? Can't detect hardware.

So Dell wants $$ to answer questions w/o an active warranty. So, thought I'd ask the collective.

My bluetooth device, internal can't be found in any of the places it used to be.

Undder control panel there was an icon to use for loading devices. It's gone....can't find it in device manager either or via a search.

Any ideas?

Can you go to support.dell.com, enter in your express service tag and redownload the official drivers for your PC from Dell?

You probably tried that already. Any way, free bump back to the top.

Try physically removing the bluetooth device, then rebooting windows, then shutdown, add the hardware, load drivers and see if windows recognizes it. The bluetooth device may have failed, that happened to me...

Well the good news....I haunted Dell, downloaded every driver they had until one detected the BT device. Took a long time, as each had to be deleted prior to the next down load.

FINALLY the icon showed up in the device manager and I was able to load the mouse.

Dell.....asshats, never will I buy from them again. The Tech Support rep was actually NASTY when I asked if I could get a build sheet w/o paying a minimum of 129 dollars for support.

The biometric reader is the last device that is having an issue. Made by AuthenTec. They are closed on weekends. This time I see the device, see the software, just can' get it to run properly. It a not really needed piece of hardware but it gives me an error mesage ever boot up.

It like having a ciggy lighter in your Porsche and you don't smoke.
