Best cable tv option

I've currently got comcast digital cable. We don't pay for any extra movie channels, but what we have (digital premium, I think) includes a few like flex, IFC, and several channels of encore. We have two boxes including 1 that is a dvr. I think we pay about $105.

I've looked at Uverse, and to duplicate our cable and current DSL we'd end up paying about the same, but we'd get a one time $100 rebate.

We just got a notice for directv that would be about half for 1 year and then about 3/4 for the second year. It would not include most of the movie channels, but it would allow us to watch recorded programs on any tv with a box.

Are there any other good cable options that I'm not aware of???

I and the wife enjoy some entertainment/escape some times, so I don't see pulling the plug as a possibility.

Not the cheapest but we've had AT&T U-Verse for about 8 months now and it has been great. Very stable/reliable and picture quality is fantastic.

I have uverse with a few movies. Included in the package is internet. My picture freezes every now and then, and the bill rises every month. They know about the freezes. I think I'm about ready to tell them to come get their equipment.

My employer reimburses me for the internet ($40), but they only pulled 1 pair, and didn't hook up me up with any cat 5 and RJ11's. Wireless only.

Internet, 2 boxes, 1 DVR, U200, HD, Show, Starz, etc... $150 last month, was under $100. The promos expired, if they want to keep me...

We tried to get U-verse several years ago. It took almost 2 hours one night to get signed up by a kid that came to the door. Then, we had a guy sitting around for 4 or 5 hours one Saturday. It turned out that I wasn't close enough to the CO to get it. Back then, the price was quite a bit cheaper. Since then they've continued to try to get us to sign up, but the price has gone up and there's no good reason to switch now.

We're looking to try to save money, while retaining similar service. The DirecTV stuff looks like it should definitely be cheaper at least for a couple of years.

It looks like Dish is about the same as DTV.

I just don't think there are really any other decent options out there (other than canning the stuff completely).

Thanks

if you only buy the hole seasons of shows or, now itunes has a rental option, is it really cheaper than watching commercials and paying for 100 channels of crap you will never watch?

stay tuned I will inform you of the conclusion

I think it is much less expensive to just pay for the bandwidth and just stream the content of your choosing-
watch what you want, when you want; and only pay for what you watch.

Critics say the Roku box is better than Apple TV. Roku XDS has 1080p res., more inputs, etc.; no add'l rental fees outside of Netflix or Amazon's monthly fees, etc. I'm an Apple fan, but I can't see buying a box in order to rent TV and film content on a per item basis. Some user reviews:
Roku N1100 HD player User Reviews (Netflix) - Digital Media Receivers - CNET Reviews

Your suggestion of streaming from online sources is good.
