That wasn't stated.

There's no cost to you when/if they suspend your registration. Happened to me last Fall when my insurance company failed to send the POI. When you have your insurance company correct their oversight, then CA wants $14 for *their* trouble.

I'm afraid this will spill over to something I don't want. I tried to find a form on this that said something like "Car has been transferred or sold" on the DMV website. I guess I have no choice but to enter the sale data again.

I ought to do that every day for a month.

But here's a good one, the lines on the form, both online and the printed form with boxes to fill in, do not allow for a typical European address.

I think I'll just make one up that fits the form. I'm really tired of doing things right when all it does is cause difficulty.

FYI Cgarr, when you register a vehicle and don't provide proof of insurance when registering, you have a 30-day window to provide Proof of Insurance. A notice gets mailed to you, as well.

Milt, from now on you will make a copy of everything you send the DMV and send it, keep the original. I had the same thing happen with my Porsche I sold out of state, but this time I had the paperwork.

I have the original paperwork, made copies and sent the notice back in its entirety. I guess my point was that now 3 people will have entered data on this by the time they open my envelope. I complied online with the required notice the day I sold the car. There is NO WAY you can call and speak with a person or get an answer by email.

If CA is out of money, could having THREE people do each task be a reason? How much postage do you think CA spends daily on unnecessary notices? How much did it cost to print that and physically move it to the loading dock where USPS picks up the bulk? But, to save costs, they have reduced phone operators to a fraction of what they had. Same with email correspondents. I have no sympathy for anyone or anything connected with government or public service.

So, in order to do business, I have to be redundant and require them to be redundant to get a job done. I'm sure happy that's how my taxes are being used.

I use Auto Club for everything I possibly can AFA cars are concerned.

I would outsource every possible gov't job. There is no reason to have government workers beyond contract mangers and bean counters. Even the bean counters should be private sector. Every contract should be renewed annually.

Every elected official should provide staff at their own expense. And drive their own car. Every government worker should get 5 paid holidays and 2 weeks paid vacation and an additional 2 weeks unpaid time off if they need it.

There are 1000's that would take those jobs at those circumstances.
