Outlook 2003 Problems
another problem has surfaced from being forced to upgrade...
I upgraded from MS Outlook 2000 to 2003. It imported my Contacts. Now when I open up a new Email I want to send, I type in part of a name as usual, but now I often find that Outlook 2003 is trying to get me to send that new Email msg to a freakin' FAX #. Here is a sample of the Contacts list it brings up (suitably redacted to protect the guilty): ![]() Note how the contact for "Andy" doesn't just give me an Email (SMTP) but also tries to seduce me into "faxing" my Email. WTF? |

Outlook 2003 Problems
That is a feature, not a bug.

Is it your auto complete cache
Are you talking about when you start to type a name it shows previous. If so, goto %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Outlook delete or ren outlook.nk2 Or give more detail

deleting the file you mentioned (under the ...\Roaming\... subdir) did nothing to change the behavior
I start a new Email message & in the To: field type part of the name - hit the Send button ... and what I see is a fax AND an Email send address address why can't the stoopid damn program figure out that no one wants to send an Email to a fax #? |

I tried to duplicate your problem.
Yep. Sure enough you are correct. I never noticed that before, probably because I never fax anybody. The Mickey Mouse way to fix it would to be to prefix the fax number with a letter or the word Fax in the number field to make the number invalid to Outlook. You could get a 3rd party app but that costs money. Let me see what else I can find.
