If there were (and there probably is, or has been), do you think that she would listen?

Had a similar conversation with one of my best friends yesterday. His son has made some SERIOUSLY poor choices, and is very lucky to be alive after an incident last Friday. I asked my buddy if it would help if I took his son (20) "pond fishin'" (at my birthplace homesite) and then stop by a cemetary on the way back, where I could point out a couple of "stories"...a cousin my age (from a couple of decades ago) and "his" nephew 20ish (last year). My friend said "no way", wouldn't help. No one stops "anything" unless they REALLY want to (and sometimes that's not enough either :() My friend is absolutely right...

Many people eat pizza almost every day and are getting about the same fat/calorie count as this woman does. People simply don't think about how many calories they are consuming. My wife watched the video and she commented on how much dressing the woman was making. My wife makes healthy dishes that simply taste great. Anyone can make things taste good by adding sugar, fat and bacon!

dafischer 04-22-2011 12:01 PM

^^^^^ +1,000 My wife makes a great (always requested to bring it to cookouts & parties) macaroni salad. For a pound of elbow macaroni, she uses 1/4 to 1/2 cup of mayo, a teaspoon of sugar, and two tablespoons of lemon juice for the dressing, for comparison.

The recipe in the video just sounds and looks disgusting. Macaroni salad means macaroni with a light dressing, not macaroni in a sea of "liquid fat". But you can see that the chef obviously likes her creations.

+1 on people not stopping unless they want to. Of course there are those who cannot stop for other reasons, but she doesn't appear to be of that ilk. Still she is a sad person none the less whether she knows it or not. Sometimes the saddest part is when they are not aware of the self loathing that may be driving their behavior.

How so? I watched the whole video and have no clue what her problem is.

You know you're in PARF when you get more comments on a fattenting maccaroni salad thread than in the "Which of these two cars should we buy" thread.

azasadny 04-22-2011 02:29 PM

Chris,
You would have gotten even more comments if you would have titled this "Gay macaroni salad"

Read about a 400 lb. transexual who was riding through Houston with his/her boyfriend Orville in his '69 F150 pickup he'd cut the roof off with a torch he'd stolen from an oil rig where he worked the nightshift as a part time security guard.

She had a Texas sized macrame scarf that she'd bought at the swap meet wrapped around her neck for effect with ten feet of it trailing behind her as she was singing an aria from Rigatoni.

Tragically, the trailing scarf got snagged around the rear wheel, instantly drawing it so tightly around her neck that it tore the rear axle out from under the truck and the whole rear end drive assembly ended up in the bed.

Her boyfriend Orville got so pissed off he broke up with her on the spot.

Some folks have medical conditions they can't help and are no fault of their own, IMO they deserve compassion and sympathy.

Some folks create their own medical condition from poor habits and a total lack of self control, and only a tool would criticize others for reacting in disgust at seeing an incredibly obese person create a food preparation video about a dish with nearly 7000 calories while she's eating herself to death.

If that woman had made a diet or exercise video trying to help herself or other morbidly obese people, I'd be cheering her on.
But she's killing herself through her addiction to food and suggesting we should feel pity as we watch her indulge in her fatal addiction is just stoopid.
Being disgusted watching that woman prepare or eat food is not much different than being disgusted watching a meth head shoot up while lying in a puddle of filth in a gutter.

Get off the high horse, you ain't fooling anyone except maybe yourself.

Very good SammyG2.

Some folks create their own medical condition from poor habits and a total lack of self control,

Did you know that eating disorders are/can be a recognized medical problem?

Don't be such a tool Sammyg2. Many graphic images of disease/ilness symptoms are disgusting to the lay person; no one here has made that an issue.

No, that statement is stupid Sammyg2. You make the assumption that the woman is stupid and self indulgent without knowing anything about her or her life. THAT is stupid Sammyg2.

Being disgusted watching that woman prepare or eat food is not much different than being disgusted watching a meth head shoot up while lying in a puddle of filth in a gutter.

I don't see where there is any difference at all Sammyg2.

Both are dysfunctional human beings. Regardless of how they came to be self destructively dysfunctional, they're human beings and worth trying to rescue from their demons. You claim to be a Christian. Ask your pastor. He'll set you straight Sammyg2.

Get off the high horse, you ain't fooling anyone except maybe yourself.

Take a long hard look in the mirror Sammyg2...if you're not afraid that your head will explode..

This is nothing -- you should seriously watch Epic Mealtime. Makes this poor girl look like a pathetic underachiever. A few thousand calories? Ha! These crazy knucks make breakfast with gallons of Jack and pounds of bacon.
