Goodbye RT

I just sold my BMW 1100RT. It's the end of an era for me. No more bikes. I don't ride long distances anymore and this bike was made for the road. It is a beautiful machine. When I saw it sitting behind the new owner's trailer, about to leave me, I had the same feeling I had when I bought it. "Damn, that is a sweet piece of machinery." I was having second thoughts, but it was too late.
I've driven a Miata, formula Vs and Fords on a track and it was fun - competent machines that do what they do well, but I could walk right away. I've never walked away from my 911, or my Speedster, or this bike without looking back and smiling and thinking about how pleasing they look and how cool it is to have the privilege to drive them. I feel kind of deflated.

I used to feel that way, until I found myself sitting alone, surrounded by a bunch of old junk.

Enjoy yourself, wdfifteen! If you get itchy for a bike later, GET ONE! If you get itchy to ride for a day, RENT ONE! The world is your oyster.

yeah I miss my old airhead R80RT. But the Oilhead is much sweeter.

I felt that way until during an economic downturn I had to sell an extremely nice 56 Chevy Bel Air Two Door Hardtop to make house payments, from then on, everything was for sale. I thought I would never sell that car. Now things come and go.

I was faced with a similar dilemma but of far lesser consequence. I had zero dollars in 1974, zero and had to come up with rent and tuition. So I sold some stuff...including.... don't hate me Gogar.....the Fender Precision bass I played in high school. I still cringe with pain thinking of that one, but I was B-R-O-K-E.

If you love enough, you'll let it go...

I didn't cry, but it was a sad day when my 911 turbo was trailered away month ago, after 16 years of P-car ownership.
