Waterpumpers x2

With me owning the Boxster a whopping 6 months, it was time to make a few changes to the garage.

At least when I post about how good the 996 is, nobody can accuse me of being a hypocrite. It's a '99 911 Carrera 2, 60k, 6-speed, M032 sport package, pretty much stock except for some sort of aftermarket performance exhaust. I picked it up in AR yesterday, I had forgotten how much I love these cars.

I miss my 996 all the time. It was a trouble-free, bullet-proof car that gave and gave, asking only for some super unleaded in return. I also miss my air-cooled Porsches all the time but those were a different relationship, consuming years of my life making them exquisite before handing them off to someone else.

I sold it after buying the Armada for my wife, I decided that we didn't need two 8 passenger SUVs that get crappy MPG. Honestly I regret selling it, possibly more than any of my past cars. I've been sporadically looking for another, I'm hoping that the expensive gas yields some bargains.

Thanks! The family loves it, if it had a 3 car garage I'd be a happy man.

I understand there is a discount when you buy anti-freeze by the case...

Sounds familiar

I'm actually considering an early 996 as my daily. My old golf still goes well but it's getting close to crunch time.

Matt,
How much time do you spend shopping for cars? (and doing all the insurance paperwork, and cr@p associated w/changing?)

I bought a 4Runner from Matt years ago (and still have it, from Wichita into my life with exactly zero issues) and we visited the local DMV together.

He has his own kiosk, there, manned 24/7.

"Good morning, Matt".

I live vicariously through this kid.

As Paul said, I have a dedicated DMV hotline and kiosk.

I typically shop online at night after everybody goes to bed, maybe 1 hour per week of sitting in bed on my laptop. Insurance is a 5 minute phone call, DMV is a 30 minute trip. All told it's not that bad.

Just be glad you can walk into a DMV. They're not open in Cali without an appt, and then only 4 days a week. And the fees, and the constant taxes...OK I'm a stick in the mud.

We should revisit the "which cars have I owned in my lifetime" thread.

Oh, I'm putting up the 930 & GT3, so let me know if you're interested ( for me)

I'm not quite ready to sell it yet, but I'll be asking $13k. It still needs a new turn signal switch (doesn't cancel) and I need to install the console hinge reinforcement kit (1 hinge broken like they all do). It's a '99 with 65k, speed yellow over black, full 60k service done, new Falken RT615K tires, stock except for an aftermarket HID kit that's very good. Typical power options that all work great, ice cold A/C, mint interior, very nice exterior with no sign of accidents or paintwork. Top is likely original with a few light abrasions but zero holes or cuts, the plastic rear window is still fully flexible with light hazing, the top works great and doesn't leak (I drove through torrential rain yesterday). Frankly it's a fantastic car, driving it back to back with the 911 makes the 911 feel somewhat big and heavy. On the other hand it's not rough or difficult to live with, it's been my daily driver since I bought it. It also gets 30 MPG on the highway, which is a nice selling point at the moment.

Ok, that's enough of a sales pitch. I'll definitely post it in our P-car for sale forum when it's time to sell.

I just post all of mine on here. I'd love details on the 930 and GT3, but they're probably both way out of my price range. But I'm always happy to drool.....
