Royal Wedding

Do we care? How important is this? I remember Prince and Diana's wedding, but why do I?

My wife is making an English breakfast for us Friday morning in front of the TV.
Eggs
Bacon
Tomato slices
Baked beans
Toast (No marmite)
Black Tea

I don't get "affairs of state" much either. I guess the pomp and circumstance is to awe.
I'm underwhelmed.

I would rather mow the yard with a non power mower than watch any of the wedding. I can't possibly care less about the entire royal family. I rate them one step below any of the Holywood stars personal lives.

I'm leaning on interesting, but I am also glad I don't have to support such a thing.

I have a five year old girl who is all about the princess thing. She even knows who Kate Middleton and William are.

And my wife is happy this toast rack arrived at the door right before lunch today.

Must be an anglophile thing.

I have said before, I was in London for two weeks when Charles and Diana got married, it was a lot of fun. I would like to be there for this one.

I'm sick of it, but I'm glad that at least she's really fun to look at.

That seems somewhat severe. The Royal family stands for dignity and tradition. We could use some in this country. They might not be directly useful for much in the way of running a country, but at least they give the country some identity.

And I'm NOT trying to send this to PARF. If you want to, go ahead.

All said, I don't watch Presidential inaugurations or funerals.

The poll is incomplete.

I do not support the caste system that produced a privileged class called "royalty".

I think Milt has nailed it pretty well.

The Royals do in the main have dignity. Prince William seems a very decent human being, he is a rescue pilot for the RAF. He has been involved in a few rescues near us, by all accounts not easy rescues. He could have got any cushy job but he hasnt.
His brother has fought in Afghanistan, he has balls.

Mainly the Royals are a force for good. But people are going overboard about this wedding...

No, not in America. You're right there. "Quite right, you're bloody well right, you know you gotta a right to say."

We can recognize them on their own soil. But, there are no titles once you step on God blessed American soil. All men are created equal here.

If you have your OBE, MBE or other title, just leave it at home if you decide to come visit the States. Our president is called Mr. just like me.

Obviously, you don't have a five year old daughter.

I certainly wish them no ill and they seem like good people. But I couldn't care less about this wedding or anything else about the royals. And I can't imagine caring for any of it either.

100+

Now that they are royalty in title only they behave themselves for the most part.

I suspect it has something to do with the old quote "Absolute power corrupts absolutely"

True.
My daughter is 17 and hasn't showed any real interest in this over-hyped circus, thank goodness for that.

She never really was the princess type. She's more of the scholar-athlete type.
