My woman is messy.

Any of you live with a messy person? Man , it is tough. Then when I try to clean up, she gets pissed. She just does not subscribe to the theory that if you are going to have a constant stream of incoming items, that you must have an equal stream of outgoing items.
I usually wait until she is out of the house, and then give a power clean, she just cannot stand to get rid of stuff. I am 100% positive that if I was not here, our home would be a candidate for an episode of Hoarders.
I have worked for the last 13 weeks straight without a day off, so I have slacked on my war on clutter around the house, but it looks as if I will have to make a pre-emptive strike this weekend.
My plan: send her out shopping for some more schit we don't need, back the dump truck up to the back door of the house, and then , unleash the whirlwind.
Wish me luck pelicans, I may be sleeping at the shop this weekend. This is one of the only things we fight about.

I feel ya.

My wife has a clutter problem.

She can't keep things organized. She'll take a stack of mail and spread it all over the counters.

Makes me crazy.

Mine was a "pile maker". She felt that piles of clean and dirty clothes got her out of the messy catagory.

PUT THE FUCH'n clothes away......geez......

Fortunately, I have no longer have this problem.

My wife is just the opposite. It's like we live in a museum. Bought a dining room set about 15 years ago. Never took the plastic off the seats, even after building and moving into five new homes. Sold them with our last house and they were still on the seats.

I'm not exactly organized or clean, but my wife is worse.

The difference is that on occasions when I can't take it anymore, I tear through the house and clean up. When SHE can't take it anymore, she yells at me.

My wife is the opposite. She is on the uber clean side. I'm okay with that.

I don't have one, a wife that is, thankfully. My cats are a bit messy at times though and the dog hair drives me a bit crazy. The GF comes, brings her stuff and then leaves, taking her stuff back home

My girlfriend is usually pretty good about being organized out in the open. When you open her closet, kitchen cabinets, or other hidden spaces it's a completely different story. While this irritates me, I have my faults too.

I've got bad news for you... We are married to the same girl

Seriously, cleaned out some storage boxes a while ago and found a reasonable supply of vintage junk mail. Drives me nuts...

Sounds like early stage of a "hoarder"

If is.......the mess will get worse

Do search on hoarding

Have one in the family......its not pleasant

My SO is very neat and organized. It's good because I am neatness challenged. She can spend ten minutes in a room and it's ready for a Good Housekeeping photo shoot. I can spend the same ten minutes and it looks like a ten year old has been alone in it for a week. I don't know how she does it. On the other hand, if I hear, "I didn't know what it was so I threw it out," one more time I'm putting her in the dumpster.

I have pretty much trained my wife out of the emotional blackmail. And we have had the talk where I told her I need certain things in life, and that while I do love her and care for her, I am going to have those things with her or without her, so choose please. I need a nice place to live, and a home where I can find peace. That is non negotiable.

I now have a housekeeper come in every three weeks, and that means the house needs to be picked up so that it can be cleaned. This ensures that at least once a month the house is orderly, and the best part is that my wife thinks I am doing it for her.

My wife and I are on the same page around the house, mostly. The odd part is that she gets crazed over small things being out of place, but she treats her car like a pickup truck. It's like Sanford and Son.

THAT drives me crazy. How can you be a neat-nick around the house, but have no respect for the vehicle

I have given up on the car. I will wrench my own car, but I can't stand working on a messy car. Off to the local shop it goes when it needs something.

Ditto with mine.
When I flip the last page on the newpaper she'll rip it out of my hand and toss it in the trash, so I dont leave it on the table.

The only thing about her that drives me nuts. I call them "piles". If there's horizontal space she will fill it. Our dining room used to look like a loading dock but I finally won that one.

We live in a huge house (half of it basement) and it's filled with boxes of her crap from the last two moves that she won't go through and I'm forbidden to throw away.

Her car looks like crap too. Wheels are literally black from brake dust. Dings dirt crap why did she insist on nappa leather? So the cardboard would feel comfy? The woman should drive an old pick up.

I've mostly given up and just figured it's a small price to pay for her angelic perfection in everything else.

BINGO

This group hit the nail on the head on this topic, my only curse in life as far as I can tell. I am a neat freak and my wife is the opposite, not near as bad as her sisters but its been a constant stress for 30 some yrs

The pattern is she cleans it all up and then eventually I blow a fuse with the mess, repeat.

How many sweaters, shoes, clothes ,the killer, boxes of old magazines in basement, watering cans, etc etc

I love her to death, she has been a wonderful Mom to my 3 children, but.....

I guess its been my fault while the kids were being raised, life gets so hectic you overlook stuff because you have no time. The one day the kids are all gone and its just you and her.

This is the time when being married gets the hardest, one on one.

Yrs ago in our many moves once I had it and thru bags of cloth bolts out and felt good but guess what, months later she bought them back from the store and was exited about getting more of the same crap I thru out. I was had on the spot.

Its just maddening.

I have girls that make messes, and girls that like to clean.

As long as i alternate them in the proper order, all is well in my world.

Fred, there is a difference between cleaning and cleaning out.

BTW, I have the same problem.
