Dual Monitors - Thumbs Up

Liking the dual monitor setup veddy much.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Still need a mini-DVI to Displayport adapter so the left monitor can be digital. The mini-DVI to VGA adapter is flakey. These are 21.5" Acers. The chintizest things, must weigh 10 lbs each and the build quality is what that implies. But they look okay.

Now that you like that, try three. Have been using three monitors for several years now and could never go back.

I have triples at work, plus two more that the laptop drives. But we don't have room for three at home. I wish.

Now you need to get a nice keyboard. I highly recommend the Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Desktop 7000 Wireless Keyboard - it's amazing. My wrists can't take a straight shooter KB anymore.

I'll check it out. It is time for a new KB. The Mac mini came w/o a KB so I'm using an extra - problem is, it's not in English - and I'm not a touch typist.

Been using duals for years... Contemplating a 3x setup at work... 2 set landscape, one vertical (for coding). Just so much easier on the eyes!

I have a quad at work, and a dual at home.

I still use my Netbook more than the dual system at home.

Agree. Pounding in code all day long using vi was killing my wrists. The ergonomics take some getting used to and can be aggravating but not having aching wrists made it all worthwhile.

I equipped most of our people at work with dual 22's and I've only had one person dislike or have trouble adjusting to it (he quit recently too, so go figure).

I think I actually prefer a single, large monitor vs. two or three smaller ones. I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger on a 27 or 30 for home; have an oddball 24/25" now.

Been using the Microsoft Natural (wired) keyboards for years. I used to have chronic wrist and hand pain, especially when I was still doing heavy development. I also used a trackball instead of a mouse for a long time, but now I've gone back to the top-line Logitech mouse with a wrist support beanbag.

This stuff is really, really important when you're on the computer basically all day, every day.

Windows and Mac OSX natively support multiple displays, as long as your hardware does. On Windows the specific video card drivers typically support extended features that let you flip the image to portrait mode, fine-tune 3D settings and so forth, but you don't need all that for regular usage.

I'm using one display from the HDMI port, the other from the mini-DV port, using adapters to Displayport. And the native Mac OS support for multiple displays.

The only irritation is that the application's menu bar stays on the primary display, even if I moved the application's window to the secondary display. I haven't found a workaround.
