Unnecessary in my opinion as this was a female... I could understand if she was threatening him.

What ambulance chaser is going to take this on? He pursued her, she walked away, he pushed her once and it knocked her down. If she had stopped and not resisted I could see a problem, but she was going away when he pushed her.

It's ok the cop went home safe!

I really would like to respect cops, not fear them.

I have no problem with a fleeing suspect getting a good ass-kicking by the cops. But this one was in no danger of getting away or harming the cop or anyone else. Probably not gonna look good in this cop's jacket.

It also sounds like he said "come here" and she continues to walk.

Somebody didn't watch the Chris Rock video. You flee from the police, an asswhuppin is coming after you.

Wait.....in cases like this it's ok to assume there are differences between men and women?

Amazing what some of you guys see.

I see cops responding to a call. Arriving after the altercation. Not even stopping to get the story. Yelling for someone who is walking away. Starting to run after that person who turns just before getting slammed into a wall.

She starts turning her head when he is two strides away. She seems to have acquired him a fraction of a second before he checked her. You can see her left arm react in a defensive move just as she's being checked.

Excessive.

That cop will cost his employer a lot of money with "thinking" like that. Is that what you pay cops to do? Not me. I think he will lose his job, and most likely the city will pay out.

Of course it's excessive, I'm just wondering if we can in any way attribute the degree of excessive to the victims gender....or if that would be sexist.

It's conceivable that he thought she was pulling a gun, but sure looked excessive to me. Judging from the video and story, she deserved to get her ass kicked, though. What a piece of work.
