My homemade, LEGAL Gatling gun.
I can't believe I just saw this gizmo.
![]() I picked it up at Cheaper Than Dirt for under $20 and just came from the range. It really works. I don't have anything bigger than a 10 rd. mag yet, but still, what fun! It came with a copy of the letter from BATF stating that this was NOT subject to Class III/NFA restrictions because it only fires one round per trigger pull. In fact, it's not just a sprayer. My 10/22 has so little recoil, that I can actually aim it from my shoulder with this gizmo on it and get the rounds on target. It fires as fast as you can crank it and no slower than a full auto. What a great find. I can buy a pallet of 10k rounds of .22 for way less than 1000 rds. of .223 costs me. And one of these days when I go shoot out in the desert, I will find a way to rig this to my M4. All I need is a good bipod now and I have a legal Gatling gun.

BTW, it fires four round per revolution. And for you 10/22 guys, what is the best 25 or 50 rd. mag to buy? I need to start stockpiling hi-cap. mags and am about to place and order for some more for my M4.

so ..how does it work? Does it hook to your trigger system? So you are only limited to hows fast the gun cycles? Or how fast you crank?

Can you rig up an electric motor to turn the crank?

It bolts onto the lower part of the trigger guard and comes with three different size shim-looking plastic pieces, and you slide one of them into the upper slot in the photo. I think it has some kind of quad-cam lobes inside and each one pushes the shim into the trigger. It works a lot like one of those old pencil sharpeners we had in elementary school. I believe it will work ambidexterously.
I'm sure you could rig up a motor to it, but that would make it hard to lug around and would certainly get you some attention at a public range. The main issue with one of these is mag. capacity. Anyone who's had some range time with a full auto gun knows that you spend more time loading mags than anything else. But you really don't need a motor. It cranks so easily and you don't even have to try to make it go as fast as a full auto gun. I can easily spit out 10 rds. in one second.

Other than burning up the barrel of a nice lil Ruger, I can see no use for this device.

Search gat trigger and you will find a bunch of these. They also make them with a small wheel with a hole for your finger tip to go in. You simply rotate it with your finger instead of that long crank arm. Electric motor makes it illegal.

They do sell a kit for about $600. I believe that you take two 10/22's put them together and end up with an actual gatling gun.... Will look for a pic....

BTW, if any of you buy one of these, beware that the bolts do mar the finish on the underside of the trigger guard. I don't care about mine, since I will eventually have it refinished. It's Wal-Mart special, but has a super sweet Deluxe Sporter stock. The finish is a bad, faux marine, matte grey. When I have it refinished, I'll put something in this crank to protect the trigger guard.

Yup, that's about how fast mine fires. Not a bad toy for under $20. But I fear what I'm about to spend on hi-cap. mags.
