I've never seen one of these before. I like the multiple track option. Being able to switch like that is such an elegant solution.
Can you still get tapes for it? And is the equipment for recording new music still around?

Watching that made me start a search of Elvis songs done in German. Perhaps a chap named Will Brandes recorded that version of "King Creole."

Sorry to go off track here, but that was an interesting learn. Never know what this place is gonna deliver.

I believe Tefi closed the shop in the middle of 60's. With other words, neither tapes or players have been done in last 50 years ;)

I don't know if Youtube video explains it, but "tapes" aren't magnetic tapes and are read-only. They are actually plastic strips with grooves cut into them. Like LP's.

Think vinyl LP record with dozen grooves rolled out onto endless piece of plastic strip. :eek: There is a stylus in the player that can jump between the grooves.
