Visited by a Raptor
This pine tree is about 30' from the deck of my house in Vermont...
Mi Madre took these pictures this morning.. Bald Eagle ![]() And being the skilled raptor...Mom told me in her email, that the eagle returned to his (her) perch, with a nice fish... ![]() We also had a bear decide that our BBQ was edible, only to find out otherwise... said bear then played soccer with the spare propane tank whilst leaving our abode... I left my Win .270 Featherweight with my mom and gave her some lessons in case the bears return and get more aggressive...

Sweet! Amazing animals. It's easy to see how folks could have seen some animals and thought that they were great gods or spirits.
I shot this at my house in the suburbs, not nearly as impressive, but still cool. I see them regularly in my neighborhood or when driving on my side of Houston. This guy, and one a few years back that visited the back yard, were both red-shouldered hawks. I've also had visits from Pileated Woodpeckers. Those are really cool to see too. ![]() ![]()

I've been watching that Decorah, IA eagle cam since they were hatchlings in early April. I watch it every day and my job performance is suffering for it, it's that interesting.

I love birds of prey. I spotted this Cooper's Hawk hunting crows at a PCA autocross event.

The road I start my commute on every day is rather rural. I was just driving along one day and a hawk came swooping past within a few feet of the car and nailed a squirrel on the side of the road. It was an awesome grab from my perspective. Mr Hawk does it all the time to survive so it was routine for him.

I shot this video of a juvenile bald eagle and a heron facing off over a large fish the heron caught. Apparently bald eagles do this sort of thing all the time. Sorry for the mindless banter in the background.
