best places for Ruger 10/22 add ons
I'm want a couple more Steel Lip Butler Creek banana clips for a Ruger 10-22.
local shops want close to $35 each, I've heard earlier today that you can still find them for $20 each plus shipping. A friend found them down south somewhere and bought 25 of them at the $20 ea. anyone got a link / source? 25 round, steel lip, butler creek brand...........that's the baseline or anything better. other mods would be fun too. thanks. I hear that silencors may now be legal in the state of WA too, got check that one out.

Dave,
I understand that suppressors are legal to own here, but not legal to use. Jeff Higgins would know.

I've heard through the grape vine that you can now own, AND use them after a recent bill passed, but I'll stand corrected under the advice of the Higgins-god.

Check the sponsors of rimfirecentral.com/forums - they have really good prices, off hand I'd recommend JoeBob Outfitters

tactical solutions hands down. for 22/45 and 10/22 crap. more fun than a barrel of minkies and fairly cheap in comparison to other spoons due to quanities mfg'd.
both my 10/22's have been re barreled to heavy barrels, scoped with 3x9 bushnells, synthetic stocks etc. went with the bushnells as they are used heavily by big kids and lil kids. and i dont give a crap if they break unlike a leupold i would cry over being bashed to poo. they aint safe queens, they get the crap shot out of them. the 22/45 got the whole enchilada drill on it , insane accurate/reliable. and a red dot. the other is volquartzen for zoomy crap. you get the bricks at wally world and i'll buy the case of beer. have red neck pick em truck and dawg.................will travel to any gopher farm, rock squirrel festivus etc. you can be a cheap azz like mee-self and practice like a mofo with them, get real damn good cheap, then transition to yer daily carry fairly rapidly.

theres a coupla ways to look at this: if YOU and ONLY YOU are going to use it..........hell a LEUPOLD!
if a gaggle of kids/family members/kids friends/are going to use it...............do what i did and just buy a bushnell 3x9. simple and effective good quality and i am NOT going to cry when it gets PULVERIZED sliding down hill side or some such crap that ALWAYS HAPPENS!

While these scopes are more than you need for a .22, I have one of these mounted on one of my Marlin .22's and have one on my AR15. It has adjustable parallax settings from 5 yards to infinity (so you can use it for rimfire or longer reaching centerfires), has illuminated mildot reticle, has nice adjustable turrets and can zoom in pretty nicely (which I like for identifying small critters prior to taking a shot at them when they are out 100 yards or more).
Yes it is a cheap scope, but after reading up on these, many folks say they are suprisingly good scopes for the money and hold zero even when used on high powered rifles. Walmart Centerpoint CenterPoint 4-16x40mm Scope : Questions, Answers, How To, FAQs, Tips, Advice, Answers, Buying Guide

They have always been legal to own in Washington, but until now, illegal to use. Kinda weird. This bill simply fixed that. I've used a myriad of these things (never in my home state, of course...). They are way over-rated. In 911 terms, it's about like going from megaphones to the M&K track shorties. Takes the edge off, but hearing protection is still mandatory, at least with the centerfires. Rimfires with subsonic ammo do well with these things, but only because they are so quiet to begin with. I shoot CCI CB Longs out of a 24" bolt gun or a 20" lever gun, and they are virtually silent without a suppressor. So, why bother? Lots of extra expense and fiddly-dicking around for virtually no real gain.

With all due respect Jeff, your statement above comes from a guy who removes windshield wipers and drilled out his manual window crank handles in order to save weight on track days? ![]()

for a meezly azzd $290 tactical solutions has a damn nice barrel fluted stainless/threaded so you can go PFFFFFT!
now it may be difficult to install. needed tools: 1) allen wrench(1) 2) screwdriver to remove stock its so simple...............a caveman can do it. i put heavy fluted barrels on both my 10/22's and a tactical solution threaded barrel w/picatinny rail as mentioned above on the 22/45. btwn tac solutions and volquartzen you cant go wrong. i have seen some of these 10/22's with 10 power scopes take the match head off a ohio blue tip match at 100yds. and thats NO POO! how accurate do ya wanna be???? brownells/midway will be your friend also.

I had a TacSol barrel on my build, but I couldn't get it to group with anything but CCI Blazer, just under 1" at 50 yards. However, it was light and I cut the stock down a tad so my kids could handle it easier. So I'd recommend a green mountain, and the a&b barrel at midway has a good rep. Or send it to one of the smiths on RFC and for about the same $ you can get close to the same accuracy with a factory barrel.
Unless of course you want to tacticool it out....
