It appears that half of the sport is to find out how to dope in new ways without getting detected. I am sure this has been going on since the 80s or even earlier. It is really sad - I haven't watched the Tour in a long time.

All cyclists at that level take stuff - it's just a question of what, when, how much and splitting hairs over the legality of whichever stuff they're using. To perform at that level requires one to dance on the knife edge of legality and winnin is as much about dumb luck and who has the better lab guys backing them up as it is about who's really "best".

I haven't found anything to back this up but a biochemist buddy of mine said Lance wasn't the only guy on his team to get testicular cancer and that the drugs they were using back then caused it. Makes you wonder.

The problem is that whether it is true or whether it is not true, the source is not credible.

Tyler Hamilton tested positive, denied it and when it was proven that the sample contained DNA that was not his, he said he had an unborn twin in his body.

I have to admit, that was a pretty creative excuse. Probably the worst part was that Hamilton actually seems like a pretty nice guy (aside from the unborn twin thing).

It's gotten to the point now that I'm not really interested in the truth as even the path to the truth seems to have poor credibility - like some crazy witchhunt.

The thing about credibility I referenced with Hamilton? George Hincappie is painfully credible... It is this accusation, above all others, that bears the weight of truth.

I guess we have an answer, all cyclists are dopers. Now they rank right up there with hippies, good for them. This Lance thing has gotten way out of control here, the cyclists are suicidal.

Most interesting thing about the story is that Hincapie didn't say that the 60minutes story was false, only that he had never talked to 60minutes.

A bigger piece of strangeness is that Contador has actually tested postive and still has his TDF crown from last year. This pursuit of LA seems like the polar opposite of the way Contador is/was treated.

But at this point it is all heresay. Lance's sampes are rather aged now and their chain of custody can be suspect now. So no one can prove anything against him at this point.

Isn't it interesting that the only time his "teammates" come out and start slinging mud is when they have a book that they are promoting and trying to sell?

Heck of a coinky-dink, the low-talent hacks who couldn't make it on their own are still trying to ride Lance's coat tails even after they've stopped racing.

He started a craze here, much the same as Tiger Woods did with golf. It's bad, in 1994, very few rode bikes, in 2011 they want to overtake the freeway by going 5 wide.

If the government can't pin him down, I sure would like to.

And of course 60minutes always gets the story right because they are serious investigative reporters and carefully check what they broadcast eg/unintended acceleration in Audi's and Toyotas, yada, yada

Regardless of what his ex team mates may be saying they still have to PROVE he was using drugs. How can you do that now?

I've always liked him because of his attitude and humility. I'd be surprised if he actually used drugs...
BUT you have to ask what's motivating his ex team mates?

Drugs and cheating by any means possible has always been common in pro cycling.
Lots of money if your a winner and a time limited career is motivation enough.
