Today is pole day at the Speedway. Many of you will remember that last month IndyCar displayed the new bodywork designs for next year. They were not recieved too well by most of the race fans online. To correct the problem IndyCar has come out with a revised design which was shown today in a special parade. Scroll down to have a look.........

Oh, don't thank me...I was attempting to illustrate the only way to look cool in a Mustang.

True....Mustangs are pretty common. I never had a car as cool as a well set up 944.

On Thursday I think it was, the track was wet and no one was out so they showed some old clips. Bobby Unser and Johnny Rutherford were guests in the booth. What I gather from their comments is what we probably knew already. It took major stones to drive a 60's and 70's USAC Indy car.

Bobby wants INDY CAR (IRL) to race a couple of dirt tracks. I'm pretty sure he meant wingless too like in a Silver Crown car.

I don't know if the new car is the way to go. Certainly what they drive now (the Dalara) is a truck compared to F1. Bobby and Johnny assert that the former Champ Cars were far more sophisticated. Can you imagine if that series were still running and the ensuing developments were unchecked?

I say think about that and take off some more wing and you'd have yourself a real race.

A race that would take major stones to drive in.

Yeah Milt I hear you.

Were they not running 240mph laps 20 yrs ago? Now it is 227.

I do not watch to see drivers hurt (or worse) but when they have these cars driving bullet proof conservative engines and dumbed down cars is just not as exciting as it once was. I will still watch though. Go TAGS!

Gugelman did 242 at Fontana in 2000 or so. I was there to see it. The current cars are dumbed down fart-pigs. The whole lot is embarrassing.

I agree...but I'll also watch the race.

If Danika can drive those things at 225, ANYBODY can drive those things at 225.

Except 50% of her team (Andretti) and about 8 other guys who went home, a couple by the way of massive crashes.

Hooray for Pipa Mann and, Simona de Silvestro and Anna Beatriz. One or more of those might send Danica to NASCAR.
