Suburban vs. Toyota Accident!

I was involved in an accident this week with my trusty old 1999 Suburban. Have a look at the pics, that is why I feel safe hauling my family in the Suburban! Have a great Memorial Day weekend and drive safe. The Toyota pulled out of the driveway and ran into the side of the Suburban.... No real point.... Indeed it was superficial damage and no one was injured....

The Suburban

The Toyota (Never even made it out of the driveway)

That's extremely superficial damage to both vehicles. What's your point?

I'm glad you feel safe. Just remember, Tahoes, Suburbans have Sh:t for brakes. Please drive your battering ram accordingly.

When you hit an immovable object, (say a bridge abutment), with 4k lbs. behind you acting as a pile-driver, you're going to wish that you bought a smart car.

In a collision with a smaller vehicle half your weight, I'll concede that you're going to win. just don't tumble off a mountain road. There aren't enough airbags in the world to save your ass when that thing gets tumbling.

And no, I don't hate Suburbans. They are great trucks for what they are. But thinking that they are the last word in safety is pretty uninformed. My Mercedes S500 is safer by several multitudes.

You would have to be trying to kill yourself in a big Merc, that drunken hill jack Lenny Dykstra could not manage it.

My Acura recently got clipped in a similar fashion, lady pulled out of a driveway and I almost missed her, hit the R front wheel and bent the suspension, along with the cosmetic stuff, more than $4000 in damage on a car that is the most popular one in California for theft by chop shops and you have a totalled car.

Nobody got hurt, and that is the most important thing.

Denis, you are all wet, 99 times out of a 100, bigger is better for a car wreck. If you drive off a cliff or into a bridge abutment, do you really think it matters that much how heavy your vehicle is?

It's okay I'm sure the Toyota driver just had a momentary accelerator pedal malfunction.
