Oh come-on, we can do better than that! :)
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1306993273.jpg BTW, thats a brand new BMW bike sitting in front of a medivac bird at Tempelhof Air Base in Berlin Germany. It does not get much better than that.... |
JKL retired TWA pilot(remember them?). B727 B707 B767 L1011 (joke for an International airplane).

There are two kinds of people in this world those who fly and those who want too. You lived the dream baby. |

This is what the FAA says, "Individuals who previously held an Airman Medical Certificate or an Authorization for Special Issuance that has been denied, suspended, withdrawn, or revoked; or whose most recent application for an Airman Medical Certificate did not result in their being found qualified for at least a third-class Airman Medical Certificate cannot exercise Sport Pilot privileges." |
What are they going to do take his license away, I can assure you there are many pilots flyin with out meds. jus saying
|
Well some people might want to be legal. I don't deny that some are flying LSA (with denied medicals) but they are not doing it legally. If there is an issue and the FAA checks into the situation I suppose there could be fines.
All I'm saying is what the regs say. You want to do it, go right ahead. |
Sorry if we're getting off topic - but, don't start lying on your medical application. There was a case recently of a pilot who was a diabetic. He did not disclose to the FAA that he was a diabetic and that he had been on medication for it. They found out and sent him to federal prison for seven years. I believe I read that in AOPA magazine.

Work
http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviatio.../9/1860905.jpg But when im back in seattle I like to fly stuff like this! http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviatio.../6/0447605.jpg I used to own one.. but just renting at the moment.... looking to fly from seattle to Air-venture this year... just have to track down a plane. |
Many people can get their medical back, even if its for a one time issue. Then do not even try to renew it, just let it lapse. Then they are totally legal for Light Sport.
Agree that if a medical was denied then LSA is not an option, but the rules and such have changed a lot in the last 8-10 years and if someone wants to fly, get it back one time and then you are good to go. |
Things have changed, just getting harder and more hoops to jump through. Speaking from experience on that one.

I know many ranchers that have not had a medical cert in years.
I know a older super cub driver (70+) that told me. They can't take my medical I haven't had one in years! This guy would perish if he could not fly. Good friend of my Dad's logged 1,000"s with out one. Geography and culture I guess, very common here in Montana. I'm Legal as long as I can be.;) I'll fly until they lock me up. |
Here are a couple of pics from the last C-141 airshow which was at Lunken Airfield in Cincinnati ...

True, still not wise to lie on a federal medical form. Since I didn't lie, I had to jump through extra hoops with the FAA. It was a bit of an up hill battle, but I stuck with it and I have my class III. The AME I knew what I was up against and cut me some slack for a minor thing. ;) I had the option of withdrawing the medical so I could apply for the LSA, but for me, it was all or nothing.

Your absolutely right, What's crazy about this is if you never had a medical, or for that matter even been to a doctor.....you can fly light sport with a drivers license. But if you had a medical at one time that was denied, you have to get a special issuance for the rest of your life flying light sport. |
