minding my own biz in cabelas.................

and SUDDENLY......................on a tip from another secret squirrel.............an HK P9S 9mm COMBAT pops into my life! very good condition, with exception of where "leather" holster left its mark on slide. an easy repair at robar, but once again the reason why 'LEATHER" holsters should all be burned. i hate leather and this is why.

yep and as soon as i got home i tore it apart again(cabelas guy about fainted as i tore it apart there to look at wear on bolt) and confirmed my sneeky suspicions: IT WAS A HANGER/HOLSTER QUEEN all of its life.

pulled the damn thing apart as per manual and started cleaning. and the damn thing was full of COSMOLINE! not one bit of wear on bolt. actually bolt had never been off before to clean. yes same delayed roller blowback system as a hk 91/93/94.

already got my spare parts list together from hk parts and numrich, and wez ready to admit another fine specimen into the hallowed halls of happy hk's.

and after polishing the bore with jb's bore paste, i once again have fallen in love with POLYGONAL BARRELING!

here we are how many years after they stopped production? and the elite u.s. teams are STILL USING hk p9s in 9mm and .45. i think thats a pretty fair compliment for a design.

the ONE the ONLY the ORIGINAL PLASTIC GUN LIGHT YEARS BEFORE GLOCK!

i hope my p9s .45 and the p9s 9mm spawn at night and have lil baby p9s target babies.

It sounds like you bought a spoon that's hardly been used.

I handled one about 20 years ago... But I didn't get a chance to fire it.
The polygon barrel just blew me away. I wonder why it never caught on?
It seems to me it would be easier to machine than standard rifling.

I remember it feeling good to hold and point.... Reassuring. The 1911 is a great spoon but they always felt wobbly or wayward somehow in my hand.

The one I handled was olive drab.

Huh, I've never heard of, much less seen, an OD P9S?!....
They do a very precise and tight feel that most 'stock' 1911's don't come near and they have that perfect balance of heft.

OJU, leather is the only option for a holster and there aren't many options available there.
kyimports.com has a RH avenger style by Bianchi in stock right now, not a great holster, but it's functional.
keepshooting.com makes a great aftermarket magazine for a fair price.

I'm still in love with my P9S, it was definitely well ahead of its time.

the wonderful thang about hk's.......................i have NEVAR had one NOT GO BANG!

and hk georgia usa still supports them. i sent my p9s .45 combat back to them , and they went COMPLETELY THRU IT and shot (3) different flavors for function test, returned the targets, replaced springs, and a ton of hk swag FOR FWEE(free).

now thats a warm FUZZY!

gonna do the exact same with this one. "warm fuzzies" are PRICELESS!

the p9s .45 is very rare. ONLY 8000 made.

the p9s 9mm was used by the west german police. this is a police trade in. how i know is the GERMAN owners manual vs. my english for my p9s .45.

mossad ayoob wrote a multi page article about these and he competed in the bianchi cup and carried one for a while while he was a cop.

the TARGET(competition) models are UBER UBER RARE and SPENDY! i mean SCAREY SPENDY! came with NILS wooden target grips, plastic grips, extended barrel and standard barrel, barrel weight, combat low sight slide and target adj. sight slide all in a wooden case.

i cant say enough about fixed barrel accuracy with these. its insane. it makes a bad shooter good very quickly.

i showed my buddy my garbage pail filled with swabs and q-tips from the "welcome home amigo" cleaning fiesta. he duly noted my OCD condition.

yep this was parked probably in some west german cops leather holster for YEARS and NEVAR SHOT, while he made small talk with the lil frauleins at the pastry shop. his name was probably "OTTO!"

i stole this damn thing. somebody at cabelas priced this wayyyyy wrong. box serial numbers match slide and frame numbers.

gonna grab me a NEW BARREL just because i can and they are still available. also a new buffer. the BUFFER IS THE NUMBER EINS(numba 1) thing YOU HAVE TO CHECK BEFORE FIRING or you will DESTROY THE SPOON!

99.99999999% of the time the buffer gets wasted from idiots cleaning the spoon with hoppes or some other cleaner and leaving excess to attack plastic buffer. my buffer was in fine condition but discolored from age(should be WHITE not YELLOW). i am NOT GOING TO RISK TOASTING THE SPOON, until i get a brand NEW BUFFER INSTALLED!

fits my hand like a glove. hmmmmm oddjob uno is ONE HAPPY CAMPER!

there is a custom holster place in colorado who does a very nice NYLON holster for these. its a multi system holster. ie. right left hand/shoulder holster etc. i got one for my p9s .45. and its great. has a spare mag holder on it that can be removed. cant remember name of them right now.

i have never seen a OD model anywhere, and im a hk scrounger of the highest order. man my love affair with hk's started when i was 20 when i got my hk-91. and its all gone downhill from there. just counted and i am up to (11) i own now. sick huh?

It's been more than 20 years so I thought I would do a quick search.
Definitely the same spoon I handled. I remember the two tags on the barrel.

Shoot, even the 9mm stock mags get spendy, last one I saw on GB was ~$60.
Link to the nylon holster maker??????
Right now I'm using a Galco Jacka$$ shoulder rig and the bianchi avenger.

One day, I'd like to own a Target model.........last one I saw on GB had a BIN of something like 5k.....

ok ok i know you all were on the edge of yer seats for this. also notice i dont try and hide serial numbers. kind of like hiding license plate numbers of pics of cars. see i want the world to know what is LEGALLY mine and LEGALLY mine alone. why? because if ya try and steal from me..............YOUR DEATH CERTIFICATE WILL HAVE MY SERIAL NUMBERS ON IT! LOL!

its also a wonderful thang having ARMED NEIGHBORS surrounding me(except for the south cuz their canucks on a visa). it makes for a very crime free neighborhood.

9mm on top and .45 below.

WLL HOLSTERS was the name of custom holster place for these p9s.

note also both of these are "later models" of the production run. this can be seen from the "navy" trigger guard.

classic should have would have when i was younger. i knew a good thang back then just couldnt afford them.

there is a "factory" threaded barrel p9s 9mm on gunbroker right now. also a 8" "hunter" barrel p9s .45 and a group III p9s kit for a mere $6000 bucks.

beware of some of these police trade ins. i have been looking for years at them and some of them have been abused. once again ALWAYS ALWAYS check condition of BUFFER!

brand new they are white plastic. old ones that are old or have been subjected to a bath in gun solvents will be yellow and powder/crumble into lil itty bitty pieces along with your spoon. and your spoon will NOT GO BANG and it will be WORTHLESS!

ok heres the ingenius part. 1st there are no tools needed. upon taking slide off of receiver, you will see the above.

take barrel end, to inside right (facing you) of slide. you will note a lil itty bitty button on the right(facing you on bolt side), take long end of barrel(after removing recoil spring) and place long end against lil button against slide. push on it downward. this will release bolt from locking piece.

so easy a caveman can do it. you can do this and ASTOUND the counter salesman and see right away if:

1) its ever been used and how much(locking piece and bolt internals will be filthy black).

2) look at the bolt/locking piece for WEAR which will indicate it has been shot alot

3) condition of rollers(one on each side of bolt-same as 91/93/94) and how much it has been shot.

after cleaning and lube in every orfice, turn around and assemble in exact same reversed order always having BIG END of RECOIL SPRING on MUZZLE SIDE!

if i can figure the damn thing out.............anybody can.

What distance do you shoot from? I'm very curious to see how accurate this spoon is at 25 meters.
I've never fired one of these but I bet she's sweet.
