German restoration shop
While visiting with my brother in law last summer in Munich. We went out into the country south toward Austria to pick up his new to him XKE from the restoration shop where it had been renewed. It turned out to be quite an outing as the owner of the shop Mr Jensen came in on sat to meet with us and go out for a drive into Austria. He asked me to pick which of his cars I would like to experience. Here is my pick.
![]() ![]() Best I can remember it is a 1972S . I imagine some of you will be able to ID it. But it did run great and could really carve the turns. My first ride in a long hood. A couple of other pics from Mr Jensen's shop. His background and personal preference is Porsche, But he does lots of Jags, and many other marks. Brother in law, my son, and the XKE. ![]() My family and some cool jags. ![]() For further viewing pleasure of some beautiful cars, great country side, Some old-timers events, really nice shop, especially check out the pre A he was doing for a Porsche Family member. A link to Mr. Jensen's site, enjoy. Jensen Classics - Restauration klassischer Automobile Cheers Richard Last edited by tevake; 06-02-2011 at 12:50 AM.. |

Nice stuff! Not a 72 but you're not far off on year. Sounds like a blast of a trip!

Well, it has a 2.4 engine badge, so that would be 72 or 73.
Not a 72 (no oil fill door). But, it does not have the black 73 horn grilles and black outline turn signals, but that could be an oversight. So, probably a 73 with the above issues. (I was trying to read the rear window decal for a clue... then realized the trailer beyond has the same logo, so it's nothing to do with the age af the car). Thanks Tcar, the logo is the one for Jensen Classics, the resto shop. It comes up at the end of the intro of the web site. That is a nice looking trailer, no? You got to check out the site, good visuals even if you don't speak German.
The shop seemed really first class, and has done plenty of restorations on super nice cars. But the day we went driving into the alps and worked our way into a very dramatic valley for lunch. After lunch the Porsche didn't want to start, no action from the starter, had to push start. Then the XKE started acting up, with misfiring then stalling. ended up having to leave it at a gasthouse in a village for later pick up. Whew, not the kind of outing Mr Jensen was planning on, I'm sure. When we got back to Brother in laws house in Munich without the car we had gone to pick up. We got Shall we say lots of funny looks and puzzled questions from his Wife about the pleasures of classic car ownership. With lots of sideway looks in my direction, as I had somewhat encouraging to him with all my talk of the fun I've been having with my SC. OOPS! I'm always impressed with the eye for detail displayed here on PP BBS. Cheers Richard Last edited by tevake; 06-02-2011 at 03:11 PM.. |

I see from reading elsewhere that you are traveling soon to the US. southwest. very nice area of the country to visit. We had a great trip there a few years ago and were blown away, Utah and Colorado are especially nice. Wish you all the best on your up coming travel adventure. Got to say hi to Grady while there. Too right! But you forget, this is a GERMAN tuned jag. Now purrrring like it should, ya wohl.
I'm a little surprised not to hear more comments about this very nice shop, It knocked me out. Especially with its location way out in the country in a small village. Surrounded by the best of beautiful country roads, in the foothills of the alps. Mr Jensen likes it that way, no city hustle and hurry. Cheers Richard ![]() |
