Who would you like to have a drink with..??

Just re-stumbled on this picture I snapped of a photo I found hanging on the wall in a basement hallway of an Air Force hospital...

Every time I look at it, I think, man, would it have been cool to walk into the room where these guys were hanging out and have a drink and B.S. for a while...

Anyone else know of an interesting small group of people that really did get together and you wish you had been invited ??

When I was five I met John Wayne on a movie set while he was filming in Bend Oregon. He saw me standing off to the side and came straight over to see me and say hello. It was said that he could be found in the local stores buying white bread and lunch meat at the end of the days shoot still in costume. Very Cool Dude.

No thanks. I like to sit in a straight chair, facing the wall, alone in a dark room when I drink.
The screaming disturbs others.

Anyone on this board would be interesting to have a beer with, I think. We may not always get along, but we do seem to pull together in a clinch.

I was lucky enough to have dinner and a couple of beers with Norbert Singer & his wife in Charlotte NC at the Porsche parade a few years ago. I asked a questions about his favorite races and he was looking bored. I am sure he gets the same questions all the time. So I changed the subject and asked him about his children. He lit up and his wife sat foreword. I have to admit I really wanted to talk about racing but I was actually polite and listened about his daughter and son.

I slammed beers with Tony Lapine who was head of the Porsche design department at the time. I leaned to never try to keep up with a German drinking beer. We drank every St Pauli Girl in the place. We had to switch to Heineken.

I would love to share an evening with Isaac Asimov.

I took an elevator ride w/ Charlton Heston, did nothing for me. Also flew back from LA with Chevy Chase as seat companion. He covered his head with a blanket and went to sleep, uncovered when the wheels touched down at JFK.

Guess I just come off as antisocial.

The Apostle Simon-Peter of the Bible: I bet he'd have some cool stories to tell that didn't make it into the book. Adam: One question-what was it like before all the stuff hit the fan?

If it was limited to the living, I'd choose George W. Bush

It it could be anyone living or dead, I'd pick Ronald Reagan and Chick Hearn.

She is super hot in the Stargate series. Still hot but less so in the Sanctuary series.

I think I'd like to rock climb to the top of some rocky mesa in the desert and have an Olympia with Clint Eastwood... (seemed like he was drinking Olympia in his movies, don't know if it was his choice or marketing ...)

and

I'd like to have some good IPA micro-brew and a Fig-Newman with Paul Newman and B.S. for a while... I wonder who all he hung out with in his free time ??? I'm figuring his wife and cars in his garage took up a good bit...

I sort of ate lunch with him on Pirates 3. He was a couple of tables over from me at lunch. Yep, he ate with the crew the one day he was on set.

Yep that's our guy. So regular in a lot of ways. Honest smart and funny.

HARD RULE in my company. You don't ask the talent for autographs, or to pose for a pic with you. I never talk to the talent unless I have to, and its always because they have approached me about an issue.

He's on the list too.

Jesus, Hemingway, Churchill, Jefferson... there are others.

Not sure I could hold my own with them, but it would be fun

if i could pick somebody fun to hang out with...jay kay from jamiroquai would probably be a riot.

Becker and Fagan. Closest I've gotten was getting to eat/chat/study with Chuck Rainey for a week. I talked with him for about a half hour about life in the studio with B&F.

Back in the early 90s, Fagan was working on his New York Rock and Soul Review album. He'd go to a little shiathole on the upper upper (94th iirc) east side of Manhattan called Hades on Tuesday nights. He had Phoebe Snow, Noel Redding, Paul Schaffer, and others sit in with him during these sessions. They'd play some stuff that they were working out for this new album, and then just blow the roof off of the place with Black Friday, Pretzel Logic or something else.

Hades was tiny. Maybe it held a hundred people if they were all really skinny. Spoke with him and Shaffer a few times. Small talk only. Was a lot of fun. Fagan was really nerdy looking, but man could he play!
