We have seen a couple of cougars here in the mountains. State of CA tracks them we have 5 o6 known ones.
Cayotes......everywhere. |
O' yeah, your cougars, mountain lions, wolves, and coyotes have nothing on my run in with the peacock I almost ran over. LOL :D JKD
Around here all I see is racoons, peacocks, skunks and opossum, nothing cool like you guys get to see. |
About 100 yards from were I joy ride the 911. Taken just last month.

This Cougar was about 15 feet from my Carrera this winter.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1307710736.jpg It is available, too, if anyone is interested. It is my father-in-law's. |
we have cougars, bobcats, lynx, bears, etc. around here.
to be honest, the big cats kind of spook me. they're too smart. they remind me more-so than the others that we ARE NOT at the top of the food chain. ( raccoons are pretty mean and scary too, but less likely to actually kill you ) ( there's lots of the 'other' cougars in our neighborhood too. not sure which are scarier. the ones with paws or the ones with escalades ) |

Regarding the Escalade cougars, I saw one in a Tahoe a few weeks ago with a license plate that read MILF. I wish I had thought to shoot a snap of it/her. Maybe Stiffler's mom...? :) |

We see domesticated dogs and cats around our area, all the time...Do they count?

Deer, Elk, Bear are seen around here a lot, and Mountain Lions (occasionally). Up where I work, there are advisories and notices emailed out warning of the wildlife in the area on occasion. See coyotes trotting though parking lots and by buildings all the time.

I'd rather look at Palin than the First Cougar we have now... http://images.huffingtonpost.com/gen...ELLE-OBAMA.jpg |

There are indeed cougars in Kansas. There have been very credible, documented sightings just 30 minutes south of Kansas City!
Kramer, where in Kansas did you see this cat? JA |

In my back 18 acres, I have deer, coyotes, rattlesnakes, bobcat, and a mountain lion was hit last year on I-5 just over the hill from my house. I also have a few thousand acres of state wild land adjacent to my property.

Not if it's a fallow deer, that's good eating. About 10 years ago, a buddy of mine bagged a black tail white tailed deer at a lease (1900 acres) I had outside of Del Rio, Tx. Mountain lions also roamed the area. Never saw a coyote, nor had anyone else. Rumor was the county had an eradication program in the 40's. It's prime sheep and goat country, but not enough groceries for a quality heard of cattle. Every so often the cattle and goats moved to another area of the ranch, 14K acres.
Our pasture butted up to an exotic, high game fence ranch in the northwest corner. We saw all kinds of animals. Axis, mouflon, fallow deer, w/t deer, pigs, turkey, bobcats, cougars, tigers, lions... Just kidding on the last two, but the animals that got under the fence became fair game. Addition... Saw a beaver on the San Saba river this weekend. It was not a nutria. |
Yesterday I was hiking on some family woodlands in the middle of Oregon's Coastal Range. Found two nice large piles of Cougar scat.
A bear was trapped last week about 5 miles from my house at a local school. Ever wonder why "missing cat" posters are up all the time? Larry |
