I will be traveling by car for the next week+ through the southwest; I have a KS CCL.
I have found that all the states listed in the title (except NM) honor my KS CCL license. Open carry appears fine in all but OK and TX, and in KS can be iffy. Does this sound correct? Any "gotchas" in any of the states listed? For example, is open carry in NM, etc. only for residents?... I plan to conceal carry rather than open carry as much as possible...just because!

I know that open carry is not limited to residents in NM.
Texas has no open carry what so ever. Vehicle carry is legal with or without a permit. Resturants that serve alcohol are fine, unless they make 51% of their money with alcohol, then carry is prohibited. If you see a sign that says "unlicensed carry, etc" that does not apply to you as you are licensed. "Gun busters" are meaningless. If you see a large sign with "30-06" and it is in Spanish and English, in either red or black, that is the legal no carry designation

Use Gunlaws for the 50 States. I have their booklet, but it's from 2007, so some laws have changed, I'm sure...

I wouldn't OC anywhere but AZ. I've never seen it done in NM. I know it's legal in NV, but you're asking for trouble if you do it. AZ is totally fine. Otherwise, it's don't ask, don't tell.

Excellent. I really don't want to open carry (just my preference) but it looks like I will have to in NM.
Anyone else with advice on OK, AZ, NV, UT, CO? I have been studying up on opencarry.org and carryconcealed.net

Colorado is Open Carry - except Denver - open carry and unlicensed open car carry in Denver are prohibited.
And really - Boulder, seems a bit silly to OC there. A leaf licker will no doubt panic. But - the rest of the state is very gun friendly. Since your CCL is fine here - no problem with that - why not just carry concealed?

Concealed is the plan, other than NM. (guess I have the option of either locking it up or carrying open in NM, to stay legal!?)
Since I plan on being in and out of several national parks, etc. I wanted to see if there were any pieces of advice as far as keeping my pistol locked in glovebox/case, separated from ammo at any points, ... I think I understand that tribal lands can be murky, legal-wise.

As long as KS and OK reciprocate you should be fine carrying concealed here....
