yeeeeeeeeeeeHaw!
letter from the fuzz... Quite the atypical reaction but in this case it means i can go collect my permit. And typical funny red tape : They want me to bring the gun when i go pick up the permit, so they can verify the serial.. Eeh, Dudes, the whole point of the permit is to make sure i can go pick up the gun, not the other way around. Anyway, i'm sure it'll be a technicality in the letter, eg , they'll just tell me to go pick up the permit, then go show it off when i have picked it up. Pics soon !!

I like to strip things and oil it up, this feels natural to me.

Very nice! Congratulations! You went through a lot to have something ( gun ownership) that too many Americans take for granted.

just noticed that the snap caps are finicky , sometimes they don't feed, and the gun doesn't go to battery. two possible causes.
Been playing with the snap caps in them spare mags.. out of impatience.. so they aren't as new as they should be, the rear edge is bit scruffy. but also , the seem shorter then the .45 acp i bought, not much, but noticible. So i think they are coming up out of the magazine poorly... At least that's how it looks like. Will test with real rounds tomorrow, don't want to load real ammo in the house when there's no real reason to do so and/or until i am 100% familiar with the weapon...

Very nice! Glad you finally got it in your hands.
How are you cycling the snap caps? The general consensus is to "never" drop the slide without a loaded magazine in the pistol (ease the slide forward instead). However, when hand cycling the slide with a loaded mag, a good slingshot motion is called for. Keep those slide rails nicely lubed.

i cycle em by hand by racking the slide. They eject nicely.
But pretty sure it's the wear and tear on them snap caps, they don't look nice and it depends, they don't always jam.. So i think it depends on which way they are rotated. Oil, check. Plan on running through 2 boxes tomorrow, and oil em every so many magazines.. Read a couple of threads about breaking in Stainless Steel DW's and galling due to lack of lube... Seems to be more critical on these tight DW's during break in.. another thing i noticed.. is that a 1911 in the back of yer pants like Magnum PI and what not.. Is not practical at all.. not unless you want your pants to fall off. Does this mean i am no good for Hollywood? (had to try.. unloaded, obviously) On a similar note, bullets are heavy !!. 1000 round box is 23 kilo.. I think i hurt my back again lifting that small but heavy box in my car.. Another Hollywood faux pas.. I can't physically lift the amount of bullets they waste in one scene..

You made sure your shades were drawn to the street, right? You don't want the neighbors laughing at you.

Oddly enough, people don't laugh at me when they find about about my purchase.. It's more of an ackward, worried look.. The same look parents get when the cops call "Man, we got yer kid down at the station".. You know what i mean..

Not about the purchase... About the Magnum P.I. wannabe.
Next you'll do the Don Johnston in full costume.

No man, my Targa days are over.
Went down that slippery slope one to many times, my budget can't handle that kind of lifestyle, it's not meant to be. Mind you, if i won the lottery.. I'de be subject to plenty of adventure, worthy of a whole new show to make people go "Magnuwho" and Donwhat's hisface what???" My lively fantasy + $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ = Excellent results on all levels. I would make the current millionairs look like rank amateurs in terms of creative ways to blow cash... And I'de do it with more style then any rapper, mogul or .com geek ever did before me. I have such much talent for being rich, that it's a terrible shame that i ain't. Rich people should front the cash, just so they can be apart of the experience. Oddly enough, i'm having a hard time getting the message across to them, so they send back moolah.... Que sera sera.

Just back from the range, ran 2 boxes through.. These are my findings
It's blast , great fun it's LOUD, my ear plugs i used for the .22 are no match, after the first mag, went for full headphones.. My right ear is still ringing Can't remember last time i shot .45 it was that loud, but that was open air, so i guess that made the difference. At 10 meter i had a 1 inch group, by the time i moved up to 25 i was shooting pretty crappy. Recoil is no biggie, it doesn't bother me.. But it is not a light piece of machinery, with a full magazine, after a while, it weighs, might have to do some exercises to improve that. Loud, did i mention it's loud? Most at the range shoot .22. some shoot 9mm.. The .45 did attract some attention ,and a lot of positive confirmation that it's a nice weapon and all.. No paper pics , forgot the BB in the car.. But i can confirm that several target cards got killed, they are buhbye. Shot 100 rounds, no real jams, did have 3 failures to battery.. Not big, but still. Oiled it some more and it was fine again. shop said the Fiocchi was supposed to burn clean, leave clean brass. Lies, lies i tell ya ... LIEEES! ![]() Don't have much reference, but tha doesn't look like clean burn to me..that's powder residue.. But i guess that simply means i gotta clean it after use.. which quite frankly is nothing that bothers me...

Your weapons looks the business. Beautiful. I think you made a great choice. I have a Colt and a Kimber and wouldn't hesitate on buying a DW.
Take your time and enjoy learning the weapon...the way I handle my BB Hi-Power is different than the .45's. Nicely done.

Thanks, very happy with it.
It feels very "right" to me, can't explain it any different. A .22 range gun would never have sufficed, don't mean that as a diss, it's just that they aren't pretty to look at like this is.. It would just be a means to an end.. this is more. Like Nigel said : It goes to eleven. Do need some more gear, decent earmuffs, some more cleaning gear. Solvents and a bore snake. I'm already saving my brass, cause this is way to much fun , i'll need to reload to keep it fun in the budget

It's funny, I love to shoot .22's outdoors, which, like Tim and others here, I blessedly can. I have a Ruger Mk II I bought in 1982 that makes it fun.
This may sound odd, but still shoot the .22 that you have been at your range. You'll begin to converge on an effective style for both pistols that will make you a better shooter. Whenever I shoot (once every 10 days or so) I shoot both. I like to warm up with the .22 and get in the pocket, so to speak. I find that then moving to the Browning or .45s I'm more focused and shoot more effectively for the same amount of ammo. I should compare groups shooting the .22 first against not "rehearsing": but .22 practice is cheap! Again, great choice...when a gun feels right all is well.

That pistol is really unusual to us.
It's an enhanced Government Model? This enhanced trigger is not something that I know. We are very familiar with the stainless steel finish. The double serrations on the barrel make it a XSE? The enhanced hammer is certainly a XSE? Quote:
