I think the DW mags are Ed Brown, but i also used a set of MecGar's.. Didn't pay attention so can't remember which mags were in when the issue occured. I'll check next time and note it down..

Also noticed that it's best to remove the grips when i clean the gun.. else the gun oil starts to seep the dye out of the grips, get's messy...
And another thing i noticed, is that the Stainless get's dirtier then a blued or parkerized gun does.. Or rather it's much more noticable. But hey , cleaning it is fondeling it.. It's fun too.

Went back to the range, with decent earmuffs this time.
I want to go frequent these early days, so i can get used to the .45, recoil, weight, handling ..

Nevermind them .22's , they aren't mine... Because most folks shoot .22, i can re-use their target cards from the bin instead of stickering the holes i shoot, i simply take another card..

This was 2 x 5 shots at 10 meter , 2 hands

I typically shot groups like this at 25 meters with the .22 club beater, one handed, but like i said, i'm still busy on getting used to it.. I'm not even trying to hard to be really accurate..

The gun itself is shooting very low, when i got it, dead center aim was almost off the target card. clicked it up , but it's still not quite there.
I read elsewhere this might because the Fiocchi ammo is slightly hot, and hot loads shoot low , not sure if that makes sense?

No more failures to battery, i only used the DW mags (Chip McCormick rebranded) this time.

So 300 rounds later, i can confirm that the Mec-Gar mags are crap..
They work fine if the gun is cold, but after 50 rounds, it warms up, and i get a failure to to to battery.. When i go back to hte DW mags (Chip mcCormick, not Ed Brown as i mentioned before) they work fine all the time.

Either way, the gun is a hoot.. but for some reason the more i try to be accurate, the worse i shoot..
Apparantly i'm over thinking it....

When i just raise, point&shoot within a half a sec, and back down again.. instinctively and faster, my groups improve and i'm hitting the 9's and 10's..

If i do it the way i was taught for accuracy, one handed ,raise above the target, slowly exhale, drop down to the target , preload the trigger, then geeeeeeently squeeze the trigger.. i bugger up

when i raise, and fire with follow ups without dropping down again.. my group won't be as tight, but it 's all in the right area in terms of "taking care of business"... I'm guess it will improve with time..

Anyway, i like it.
started looking around for reloading gear.. . book on the way, figure i'll start myself off with a Dillon Square B for 350 euro, some assorted tools and i can be on my way for about 600...

Just need to find a way to recoup more brass... right now i'm loosing about 20% either they fly to far, or they fly the wrong or they get lost in between the other stuff on the floor...

As far as I know, that's the "bullseye shooter" method. It's not a method that is necessarily conducive to accuracy, it's just the rules of the bullseye game.

I always use a two-handed grip in a modified Weaver stance for accuracy.

I fixed the jinx !

Ran a warm up with the .22 first, off handed, then went back to the 1911, and shot it offhanded as well.

@ 10 meters , green is right handed, purple is lefthanded.

Had a run at 25 meters too, and it wasn't to bad either, no pic , but 7 or out of 10 in the black...

Good choice.

I use a 230 grain round nose, with some sort of slippery paint on it to reduce leading in the barrel, 4.0gr of Titegroup, and Winchester primers.

I hadn't had a shoot for a while but got out today and shot at Steel Plates (falling plates 150mm) at 50 meters. I got one about every five shots. Normally we shoot steel plates at 10 meters and something like four or five seconds to down the six of them.

Stijn,
It's a normal reaction to a 1911.

1000 rounds is just breaking it in properly ($400 here).

So, what is it?

I just bought four of them last year (of 18) and know them well.

You can see the trigger, hammer, serrations, and upswept/original beavertail here?

You need a National Match (it's very accurate on target):

THAT National Match is a work of art. It's also kinda nice that it's so accurate too.

CZ-USA -> DAN WESSON Pointman Seven

It's probably as accurate as any non custom 1911 out there.
Had guys at the range give it a try, and they all went like, ooooh, niiiiice....

Discontinued, 2010 - The Pointman Seven is a 5” series 70 style 1911 featuring a stainless steel frame and forged stainless steel slide. Like all Dan Wesson 1911s, Pointman models incorporate top quality parts from the best names in the industry

· Forged, one piece match grade barrel and bushing.
· Round top slide with Bo-Mar style adjustable target sight
· Hand polished flat surfaces with contrasting bead blasted rounds
· Flat, all steel 20-LPI checkered mainspring housing
· Front and rear cocking serrations
· Beveled magwell
· All sharp edges dehorned by hand
· Lowered and flared ejection port
· Hand polished feed ramp
· Ed Brown slide stop
· Ed Brown memory groove grip safety
· Tactical extended thumb safety
· One piece full length stainless guide rod
· Commander style match hammer
· Match grade sear
· Aluminum trigger with stainless bow
· Extended serrated magazine catch
· Wolff springs used exclusively
· Diamond checkered coco-bolo grips
· Tuned, machined, internal extractor
· Test fired for reliability
· 38 ounces unloaded

Everytime i went shooting, when i came home i stripped it one part further, by now i can take it down to the last bit and reassemble it without a problem.. I like stripping .
