PCA Raffle (911T): anyone got debited yet ?
This is just a preemptive rant of sorts... Everytime I've entered a PCA raffle, my check has been returned to me, to the point that I'm starting to think there's something fishy going on...
This time, I got the entry for the factory restored 911T, wrote a check, stuffed it in an envelope and caught the mailman on his return trip down my street. Total elapsed time from reception to entry: 7 minutes ! Yet, that check sits undebited from my account, and I would be less than shocked if my entry is returned to me later (sorry, raffle is full!) Has anybody gotten debited yet or is "the Fix" in already ? At the very least I hope a Pelican gets it, so we can hear all about it !! ;-) |

I have not entered for this one but I do recall it took a while before my check cleared the bank.

PCA Raffle for 911 T, check has not cleared
Same situation.
Mailed the check on May 10. It has not cleared my bank account yet. I have entered earlier PCA raffles and it seems they have processed them quicker and sent out confirming emails. No email confirmation on this one either. Was thinking of calling them to see what the story is.

Another Florida guy here. Wrote and mailed the check on 4 May. Just again checked my acct, not cleared yet. They are usually quicker to send an email out after receiving, I agree.

Relax guys. We're as anxious to deposit your checks as you are
![]() We bring in an intern and pay overtime to our existing staff (remember, they are pretty busy doing club stuff without the added workload of a raffle) to process the raffle tickets. They have to input all your info, verify that you're a current PCA member and then send a notice to you that your raffle ticket is in the mix. I stopped by the office last week and there was a large box of unopened envelopes that they were still working through. Once we reach our 7300 ticket limit, then we begin returning uncashed checks. Alot of folks got mad that there weren't able to get into the raffle last year, but we have to adhere to the rules. Once we reach our limit, we're done. This year we waited until June 1st before we began digging into the mail to pull envelopes. This gave those on the west coast and Canada a fair chance to get their envelopes into the national office. Best of luck to those who entered. Wish I could enter, but the rules prohibit. I can tell you it's one sweet ride. Alot of the folks from the Porsche Classic department will be at Parade in Hospitality, so if you're going, don't hesitate to pick their brain. They are very knowledgeable and I know this car was very special to them. |

My flyer came a few days ago - and now I see this and wish I acted earlier. Do I get points for promoting this ( and membership) on Pelican when it was first announced?
I have been following the restoration online and missed the PDF of the entry posted a while back. Shucks - that would have been best.....

Yeah, me too... So I suppose I should apologize for doubting the good folks at PCA ;-) Still, it's the first time I make it into the raflle !!! I have to warn you, if I win the car, the 73 bumperettes will come off... ;-)

Interestingly enough, due to parts inavailability, the car will come with H4's and the factory S spoiler. Personally I like the look of both the euro lights and S spoiler.

Wow, if the factory can't get the parts I guess they really are unavailable!

Was there ever any explanation as to why a T was chosen for restoration, and not something ummm... more exciting? An S or a 914-6 would have been way cool, and any difference in purchase price would have been little more than a drop in the bucket compared to what has been spent on this T, I'm sure.

We would have loved an S, but it seemed that everyone who had an S, regardless how rusty they were, thought they were sitting on a goldmine and the prices they were asking were out of the budget.
A year ago we conducted a survey and the 356 was the top model chosen to be restored and raffled. The early 911 was second. Not sure if we ever asked about a 914-6. The factory felt that a 356 restoration would be way out of the budget. |
