If his BAC was .19, it was more than a few drinks. Prolly more like 8 or 9.

And I can say for absolutely sure that I've never gotten totally drunk and drove 130 mph.

Hugh R 06-22-2011 03:50 PM

I worked on "Jackass-The Movie" the first one. I'm surprised he has lived this long. Don't believe me? Check out the credits.

Seriously though Hugh, as the safety guy did they come up to you with some stunts to where you thought "Are you guys out of your effin' mind!". I mean, there have to have been some ideas you had to tone down or flat out refuse to be performed.

Wasn't there was a member here who bragged about getting drug, crashing his 993 in a tunnel or something, then ran away from the scene leaving the car & commiting insurance frauld, I'm sure there was..

He created a thread here about it.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/324370-crashed-my-993-a.html

Seemed proud he got away with it. If he actually did.

You should see the "treatments" we wouldn't let them do.

Johnny wanted to have someone pull a small tattoo on his forearm up with a pair of pliers and shoot it off with a 9mm.

They wanted to strip Johnny naked and spray him with the urine of a female deer in heat and put him a paddock with a couple of male bucks and "see what happens". I said what about the razor sharp hooves and antlers? I got a blank look. I said what are you going to do if one of the bucks "plugs in". Johnny said "By God, that camera better be rolling".

They wanted to go to a zoo and try and shove one of their heads up the butt of an elephant. I told them I'm pretty sure a zoo won't go for that.

When he got shot with the riot-control bean bag, Johnny wanted to take it directly in the chest. The mfgr. said no, it had a high probability of killing him. We put on a Kevlar vest and a cup on his junk. Regardless of how he felt after getting hit, he went in for an MRI. He thought he could take two beanbags, after getting hit, he only wanted one.

At the end of the movie one of them is giving another a tattoo in the back of a Hummer (IIRC) on a really bumpy road. We made him become a CA licensed tattoo artist before he could do it (not a lot of work to get the license). You may recall that the guy giving the tattoo had latex gloves on.

The crash of the golf cart should have killed Johnny, he wasn't supposed to do that and just did it in the moment. I think in the film you can hear me say "What the fcuk!!!).

The bottle rockets were in Japan, they didn't want to take me, it was another spur of the moment thing, they were really drunk.

That shocked me the first time I saw it. I thought he was very lucky to get away with it.

I'll have to watch it again. Some, ok all, of the stunts were crazy. Things you mIght hear or think about, but would never do.

About .196 BAC.

I heard a couple estimates he was going 130-150MPH.

Hugh R 06-22-2011 06:15 PM

Like I said, no zoo would consider it, it was a non-starter

slodave 06-22-2011 06:21 PM

I was volunteering for the National Park Service and they had called to see about getting in the ring with a bobcat or mountain lion. When the lady who took the call asked around about who those guys were. I told her it was a bad idea to let them play with the animals. They were shut down on that too. :)

pwd72s 06-22-2011 06:25 PM

Gosh...the real tragedy here? There may not be any more Jackass movies.

The Jackass guys came to Sydney a few years ago to appear in a Wolmother music video. I work in the film industry (not on this video) and subsequently went out one night to a party, the Jackass guys were there. All I can say is..they were out of control. As Hugh said, Im also surprised all of them are still alive, and that's just from seeing them drunk, let alone the films etc.

craigster59 06-22-2011 08:21 PM

Love the headline.

Ryan Dunn's death: Alcohol to blame for crash (TMZ)

That damn alcohol, always going around killing people. Somebody should do something.

scottmandue 06-23-2011 07:03 AM

Oh come on guys... haven't we all put our heads up an elephants butt at least once?

Never seen the show and not a fan of the guy... sad that two people died... sadder that people can make a living out of being drunken fools. :(

Only proves once again how low-life that guy is. He and all his wanna-be rapper buddies.
He's lucky no one here reported him for DUI, hit and run or insurance fraud.

Racerbvd 06-23-2011 08:01 AM

Since when did every one here become the Angry Old White Dude we grew up making fun of??? True, most of us did crazy things when we were you, maybe not on this scale and I 'm pretty sure that most of us (there are a few I'm not sure about) never had an interest in putting any part of our bodies in an animals bum..... Dunn & friends seemed to be happy & enjoying their lifes, hell, who here wouldn't want to race the Gumball 3000??? Drinking & driving, very stupid, but as it has been pointed out, one of the very liberal members here not only did it, but bragged about it & committing fraud.. Many (most) of the pranks were just plain stupid, but at least they showed the results when they went bad. What always bothered me most about the show is how Bam's Dad sold out being a Father to be a stooge for his Son, sure, most likely he & Phil are well paid but that, more than anything else sends the wrong message to todays youth..
Very True..

Course this one always makes me laugh..

I've enjoyed most of the Jack Ass movies, just didn't appreciate it (as much) when they did stuff that affected others.

Like one of their first stunts was to rent a car, smash out the windows, put in a roll cage and a couple of blow-up dolls, and then enter it into a smash-em-up derby.

Then they returned it to the rental place with the "but it's got a full tank of gas" defence.

Sure, it was funny as hell, but I felt badly for laughing at it. Hypocritical on my part? Yep. But it WAS funny.

R.I.P. Ryan Dunn

I have never seen any of the jackass stuff and I don't plan to. But like the quote above it is no real tragedy to get a drunk & very reckless driver off the roads.

scottmandue 06-23-2011 09:16 AM

Here we go again...

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1308849248.jpg

Yeah we are all human and we all make mistakes... but there are little mistakes... big mistakes... and HUGE stupid mistakes.

Sucks to be Corinthians.

Kroggers 06-23-2011 10:33 AM

I do feel sorry for them both - how ever we decide to live our life, it is still sad when it ends - even more so when the life that ends is young...

As for the Jackass gang and movies - I have seen some of it, and to me it is just slap-stick humor taken to the limit, and yes I do find most of it funny and entertaining. I do not judge if it is good or bad, but it works for them.

I think we should try to separate the two main points here - what he did for a living and how he died. If he was your son, how would you feel?

craigster59 06-23-2011 10:37 AM

Sounds like it was bound to happen sooner or later....

"The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Wednesday that Dunn received at least 23 driving-related citations in the past 13 years, 90 percent of which ended in guilty pleas, including 10 stops for speeding and careless driving and three more for driving with a suspended license. In 2005, he was arrested for drunken driving, but charges were dropped when he completed a probationary program; his license was suspended for more than a year, according to court records.

"He drove too fast," April Margera, mother of Dunn's best friend and "Jackass" co-star Bam Margera, told the local NBC station Monday. "I yelled at him all the time about that."

scottmandue 06-23-2011 11:28 AM

Why do these threads always end up like.

"Famous guy likes hitting himself in the head with a hammer and eventually died from head injuries."

"Famous guy is an idiot!"

"Hater!"

"At least famous guy died doing what he loved"

"Many of you have hit your thumb with a hammer... are you really any better?"
