Surprise, surprise. Almost all of their cordless tools are made in China. I started buying Makita tools back in the mid 80s when I started in the trades while going to college. Back then, all of their tools were made in Japan. I found their Chinese made tools today are damn durable and are just as good as anyone other brands. Not their early Chinese made ones. Traditionally speaking, Makita has been not as durable compared to Milwaukee or Porta Cable (corded tools). I have had their cordless drill motor strip gears. That's because my men beat the heck out of them. They don't have to buy it, so why not?
