Boat Carrying Marijuana Found Sinking

Hiker spotted boat near Rancho Palos Verdes
RANCHO PALOS VERDES (KTLA) -- A 25-foot boat carrying 200 pounds of marijuana was found off-shore with no passengers aboard has sparked an investigation by federal agents.

The boat was spotted sinking in a fishing area near Port Vicente. One bale of marijuana was found in the water near the boat and another washed onto nearby rocks.A hiker spotted the fishing boat about 10:30 a.m., The Daily Breeze reports.

Fuel cans and raincoats washed ashore along with the bales of marijuana.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection -- a division of the Department of Homeland Security -- is investigating the boat and where it came from.

Agents estimated the marijuana's worth at $144,000

Bales of maryjane are called Square Grouper here in the Sunshine State. There is a movie by that name on Netflicks that is pretty good about the old days in South Florida.

I have a buddy that worked on a fishing boat in FL. It wasn't like they came across floating bales every day but it was fairly common. Radio the coast card as to the location (although there might be a slight delay if the thing wasn't waterlogged).

Tow it 26 miles out to sea. (your fishing line 'accidentally' snagged it, right?)

Enjoy.
