question regarding cordless Reciprocating saw
Hi Guys.
For a long time, I have been using the dewalt reciprocating cordless saw and several corded one. Now, time to get a new saw. Since, I have switched to Rigid drill recently, I want Rigid saw too, so I can use my Rigid batteries. After a little search, I found that there are two types of reciprocating saw now. The normal type (big and heavy), and the one-handed type (small and lighter). The differences I can see is that the one-handed saw has the handle and trigger in the middle of the saw. Also, it is weight around half of the normal saw. Stroke length is shorter and quicker. Has anyone owned both for home use? What do you think about the handle and tigger being in the middle of the saw? Can you give specific opinion? Thanks. Hey, I am kind of a tool freak when it comes to construction or wood working tools.
I am bias. I like the full size tools. my guys have their little saws like you describe. they use it but not very often. they tend to grab the larger saws because they have more power. I see them use it on small stuff or tight locations. When ever they go under the house or in the attic, they get the full size cordless saw. I usually do not see them until they come out when the job is done. Get the full size saw. it wil do 99% of the job the lilttle one can do. |

does it hurt to have extra tools lying around?
OTOH, my rule is I can usually use a jigsaw on small stuff - I have "just" one recip. saw -- an old timey Milwaukee -- made before cordless tools existed I think beat up but still works great (like all Milwaukee tools, it is hard to kill) |

I have two full size sawzalls, one corded and one battery. The corded one for major cutting and the battery for quick small jobs. The jig saw for fine detailing. What brand to use is your choice as I would surmise that most if not all are made in china (usa).

I finally got an 18v set, similar to this set, with the impact driver. Compare to my existing cordless drill, this drill is heavy as hell, but it has the hammering feature. Hope it does something different. The circular saw is WEAK. I mean very weak compare to any electric circular saw I've ever used.
