2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Last year I bought a 2011 Jeep Cherokee. I needed something that was appropriate for seeing clients, yet could still tow my 4500 race car/trailer. I got the bottom of the line Laredo, but with leather, nav, and the Hemi.

This thing is awesome. To my eye, it looks great. It has all the bells and whistles I could possibly want, is quiet an comfortable, and tows the race car like it isn't even there. The interior is about perfect--great materials beautifully made. Not a rattle or squeak anywhere, even on Seattle's horrible roads.

Yes, it suffers in the gas mileage department, but still averages about 16 around town and I have seen as high as 20 on the highway. It gets about 13 towing, which is what my Nissan Titan got just driving around without a trailer. And finding parking for the Titan was always a pain. Not so with the Jeep.

So far, after 12,000 miles, it has had one taillight burn out. That's it.

My favorite part, though, is the sticker that says it was built in Michigan. It's great to see an American designed and built (OK, Mercedes helped) vehicle that is so nice.

If anyone needs a vehicle like his, give the Jeep a look.

What was sticker vs. what you got it for?
Damn I want a tow vehicle something bad.

It stickered at about 42k, and I got it for 37 out the door(including our ludicrous 8% sales tax).
It has 4WD.

I have driven the 2011 Grand Cherokee Hemi and also the Laredo, the Hemi is awesome!
It's based on the MB ML floor pan ( i believe) and the drive, comfort and overall feel is top class.
The owner had to wait nearly two months to collect it, the dealer supplied a Laredo to drive around until the Hemi arrived. Obviously selling well.

MG, did you get the lifetime warranty and use your Costco card for the discount?

Wonder why people call GRAND Cherokees, just 'Cherokees'? Like the OP.

The Cherokee is a totally different vehicle than a Grand Cherokee. (Jeep no longer makes it.)

Sort of strange shorthand, I guess, but it's calling an "A" a "B"...

Just wondering...

I think they were two different vehicles for awhile then they just made one and called it the Grand Cherokee. I'm not really up on my Jeep history.

Whatever--I like mine. The Costco price was invoice plus $100, and they gave it to me for invoice. Of course, who knows what "invoice" really means?

If I were to change my OG Cherokee for anything, it would be the Grand. Any version from 2005 and up. They were using the Mercedes platform starting in 2005.

Saw that.. was referring to his first sentence:

Anyway, was just wondering.

I have a GC, read a couple of GC forums... they go ballistic if someone calls GC a Cherokee.

The 'new' Cherokee is the Liberty.

If I recall the grand was designed to replace the original Cherokee in 1993 but sales were beginning to blossom for SUV's at that time and Chrysler decided to keep them both. The Cherokee soldered on until the 2001 model year.

The Patriot (and Compass) aren't really Jeeps.

They are built on the Mitsubishi GS platform.

Jeep supposedly wanted some little 'Cheap Jeep' crossovers... voila'.

Does the Jeep feel more powerful than the Titan? I love my Titan, but it does suck gas big time.

Titan/Armada are enormous.

Wheelbase/Length are both about 30" longer than the GC.

With the 'Hemi' the GC will feel a lot peppier.
