Samsung cell phones, any one have one?
If you do how do you like it?
Being lured to the dark side (android) Will there be big changes/improvements for android soon (should I wait?) Samsung seems to have the best price on the android market. "The Samsung Exhibit 4G is a fast, comfortable Android 2.3 Gingerbread handset with two cameras and a 1GHz processor." $50 Always stuck with Nokia for their reliability... not sure what to make of the Samsung line.

My wife has a Captivate (3G, AT&T) with Froyo. Very nice phone, even for an older design. I have a Focus (Win Phone 7, AT&T) and it too is quite nice. A lot of folks think Samsung makes the best screen and that is a legit argument.
That said, I also have a HTC Inspire (4G, AT&T) and it is probably the best hardware /OS combo I have owned.

I hear the new Samsung Galaxy will be coming out later this month. I hated mine until I installed Android 2.1 via my laptop.

I have a Galaxy S. The battery life sucks. I'm lucky if I get 8 hours before the battery is completely dead. And I don't really use it that much.

I have 4 batteries for my Galaxy S, and I change them out during the day, and charge them all at night. Why screw around? The phone is an important business tool now, so why would I not have spare batteries?

Why not have a phone that lasts an entire day instead? Just asking...

I have had numerous Samsung phones going back over the years. My first one ran Palm OS and was a flip phone. My last one was the Omnia, an early Windows Mobile phone and it was great.
My wife has had a Samsung basic flip type phone for a few years and she is stressing about going to a smart phone. My current phone is a Motorolla Droid Global. Its fine, a bit thick, but the battery life has been good. I agree, it has become a very important and sometimes annoying business tool. Bill |

I picked up an Infuse a few weeks ago. So far no issues. I get at least a day from the battery with moderate use, love the phone so far.

I would never rely on battery power alone. That's just asking to be left high and dry. I can go probably two days on 4 batteries. To me, that's just being smart because without a phone, you're done.

I have a Samsung Charge 4G on Verizon and I'm very happy with it, although it is my first smart phone so I have nothing to which to compare. If it is any indication, my 17 year old stepson liked it so much he just got one too. He's had Blackberry, HTC, and all sorts before this.
Build quality seems to be excellent and the calls are clear. The only thing I find slightly annoying is trying to type in my PIN for voicemail as the screen likes to turn blank before I push the numbers, but maybe that's just me. I will tell you that the 4G is amazingly fast and I'm very glad I got that. When I'm not in a 4G area and have to use 3G it's so slow.

I just upgraded and almost went with the Samsung Droid Charge. It's certainly an impressive phone, and VZW's 4G is awesome here (I'm averaging 15mbps down and 5mbps up), but the HTC Tbolt felt just a little more polished to me and was cheaper with nearly identical hardware specs.

I'm on T-mobile, HTC is definitely in the mix as is a Galaxy... but I never buy a phone without checking the online (CNET) reviews plus the PPOT braintrust and the Galaxy is too new to get impressions.
Also the HTC and Galaxy are $200 and I'm a cheap old ba$tard. And what is the latest version of android? To quote Ozzy "How many G's are there?" ![]()

I have the Samsung Captivate and before that I had a Samsung flip-phone. The flip-phone was a great phone. It lasted 5 years and then it stopped receiving cell signal (could not connect). I wanted Android, and the Captivate was supposed to be the Apple killer.
My new Samsung Captivate goes 50 hours (it tells me, I don't time it) between charges on light usage, 36 on heavy usage. It is not rooted, but I did install the Froyo OS via kies. As far as being a cool gaget, the Captivate has that in spades. The screen is great. I have access to more applications that I could possibly use and setting up and retrieving e-mail is a breeze. As far as being a phone...the flip-phone was SO MUCH BETTER! The call clarity was better. The connectivity was better (for the first 4+ years). The bluetooth connection was better. I cannot recommend the Captivate if you want your phone to work as a phone all of the time. Android has really fragmented itself. Gingerbread is available on some platforms (2.3) but most are still at Froyo (2.2) which is a great OS and flash capable. If you move to the tablet realm (which you would not do for a phone) they have 3.0 or Honeycomb available. Also, 3G is a fast connection still today. It is about 2-4MBps. That is a lot of bandwidth. True 4G is able to move something like 20MB in an optimized environment (which AT&T does not offer if you are looking at their sevice). Hope that helps.

I just checked with one of my Porsche track buddies (he own the car that was auctioned off in Canadian customs, but it was the guy he sold it too who screwed up & lost it)
![]() Owns a Radio Shack, and has 8 phones left (he is in a small town) and if you have a fax machine to handle the paper work, can hook you up.. Quote:
