Replacement laptop batteries, where to buy?

I don't know what my wife and daughter are doing with their laptops but a battery only seems to last maybe two years, is that normal?

Anyway... calling all techs... where is a good online store to buy laptop batteries.

So far I have found "global-battery-charger.com"

Still looking, but I know we have a lot of techs here and thought it would be wise check for advice.

Thanks in advance

Actually I found the best price was on Amazon. Just type in the battery model number. They are a LOT cheaper than the local battery store.

I'm leary about buying batteries on fleabay. Remember the problem with exploding batteries a while back? Too many cheap Chinese knockoffs of stuff out there.
Batteries Plus has everything and they are reliable.

After 2-3 years, I found it better to just get a new laptop. Even the $300 cheap ones are faster than the ones from a few years ago.

I have had good luck buying the cheapest ones off ebay. No explosions and very inexpensive.

Ebay. I've bought laptop, phone, and cell phone batteries from Ebay sellers for years with no problems.

Very true... need to get one more year out of this laptop before daughter goes off to college... at which point she will most likely get a new laptop.

The laptop batteries are mostly AA soldered together. Just buy off ebay a bunch for a buck or two, crack that battery open and have your soldering tool ready.. Cheap and as good as new.

You can buy batteries with tabs to solder to, but I used to solder to nicad batteries years ago. Hit the metal with a file to rough it up, and it doesn't take much heat.

They are not using them right. If you leave it plugged in all the time it kills them, or so I am told. You run them down and recharge them they last longer, according to the battery guy, but he is the business of selling batteries.

That might be like asking a barber if you need a haircut.
