Richard Hammond drove an F1 car on Top Gear. He really couldn't get much out of it because at 8/10ths it wouldn't hook up, produce tire temps or the downforce needed. So, it was an ill handling nightmare. He said that, not me.

Reminds me of the first time in my Formula Atlantic at Willow Springs. I wasn't going fast enough through turn 8 for the tunnels to produce downforce, and the thing was literally like driving on ice. It was a hot sumer day, I had huge slicks and I was sawing the wheel back and forth trying to keep the thing pointed in the right direction. Terrifying!

Micheal Andretti held (or holds) the Willow track record and I think he did it in a F Atlantic. If so, that's all you need.

Nope, looked it up, he was in a CART car. The record for an Atlantic is only 4 seconds slower.


That's all you need.

But, surely someone with an F1 car and a current driver could break the "magic minute."
