Considering an iPad v.1
Is it possible to print with the iPad 1? What else can the iPad 2 do that the v.1 can't? Apple is selling refurbs for $150 less.

I'm not sure how you would print from an iPad. Is it possible with the iPad2?
The big differences are the form factor and cameras. I have an iPad1, some of my friends have the 2. Having had my hands on both, I wasn't really tempted to switch from the 1 to the 2. In some ways the prefer the larger size of the 1, it feels a little more substantial. For $150 less, the iPad1 seems like a hell of a deal. I do miss having the camera for Skype sometimes, but that is not a big enough deal to get me to switch. |

Both versions of pads and iPhones can print via WiFi to network printers. Search for airprint.
I have V1 and spent a week with a V2, not a big enough difference to trade up except cameras Last edited by gr8fl4porsche; 07-17-2011 at 11:02 PM.. |

The biggest difference is the cameras (which I wouldn't use if I had them) and the processor (which is quite a bit faster in the new iPad, though unless you play a lot of games you'll be unlikely to notice). Wasn't worth it for me - I thought the screen would be better and the whole thing lighter, but it is not.

It will obsolete sooner.
For example, I stopped at ver3 of the os for my iphone (actually loaded ver4 but it was slowwwww, so we backdated it) and now I cannot add or update apps. |

I have a v1 and having taken it on a few trips I'd look for something else that you can plug into an ethernet cable, hook a mouse to and insert a camera memory card to up load pics. Flash being unavailable for the iPad is also something to consider.

On my v2, when I hook it up to a computer with the supplied usb cable, the pics show up in a folder like any other usb storage device. Not sure about v1, have you tried?

This is how my iPad v.1 works for photos. I'm able to print from my iPad without issue using AirPrint.

When I travel with the iPad, I can't directly up load pics. Similarly, I have to post pics on my iPad to a host like photobucket and link from there to here (thanks for that tip Red Beard).

I have an iPad 2. My folks have an iPad 1. For the price difference, I would vote for the iPad 1. The cameras are the main difference, but who wants to hold up a 10" camera?
