We need laws

that make sense.
With all of our elected official's you would think that we could have this.
Or maybe these are my pet peeves:
1) It should be a law that all extension cords except a three prong plug. Nothing like hanging all the Christmas stuff and need to find an adapter or 20.
2) When you pull up to the drive in at the bank, you cannot ask for a pen/deposit slip. Have your stuff together before you get there. The person behind this a$$ clown should have the right to bet that persons car with a small bat until the transaction is complete.
3) All sun visors should cover the side window, not leave a 2" gap that lets the sun in.
4) When you drive up to the ATM, this is not the time to start looking for your ATM card. Woman do this all the time. Then after the transaction they put back in their purse while you wait. Can't pull up and do it, so you can to your thing.
I'm sure there are other things that bother me buy these top my list.
Items 2,3 and 4 happen to me in the last 24 hours.
Going to pull the engine out of my car now and relax.:)

stomachmonkey 07-22-2011 09:06 AM

Accept, confused me for a second.

I hear you on 3, love my Tahoe, double visors so you can cover front and side simultaneously and primary visor has a sliding extender.

4 applies to everything in life. Primarily women are the culprit but I've seen men do it. My wife will do it all the time, we are driving along, "stop at the bank real quick", she'll wait until I'm in a spot with the car in neutral before she reaches for her purse/card. WTF, you've known for the last 5 miles that we are stopping here.

No. we have enough laws already.
We need courtesy, common sense, and personal responsibility. Not more freaking laws.

dw1 07-22-2011 09:51 AM

We need people who REMEMBER TO USE THEIR FRIGGIN' TURN SIGNALS WHEN CHANGING LANES.

By far my biggest pet peeve.

p.s.
A few months back I was in MN & WI on business and saw a good bumper sticker (my thanks to the Volvo wagon owner near Forest Lake for having this):

+1000

I had several instances just today that makes me wonder how some people make it this long driving a vehicle.

hint-When you pull out in front of a 10 ton truck expect to hear an airhorn if you don't start accelerating immediately.

pwd72s 07-22-2011 10:23 AM

Sammy nailed it.

Another one that bugs me...people at the post office who don't fill out the proper forms, slowing up the line. Clerks are more than happy to provide forms so you can fill 'em out at home.

Ouch! That's similar to one of my pet peeves. Standing in line at the food store, waiting while the cashier rings up a pile of food for the woman in line in front of me. The cashier finishes, gives the woman the amount, and THEN the twit starts digging in her purse for money.
Another food store peeve is the under age cashier who sees me in the line with a bottle of wine and rings up every other thing in my cart and THEN calls an adult over to scan the wine. Everyone in line gets to stand and wait while an adult is located and arrives to work their special magic. I once asked a manager if that was their policy. She looked at me like she'd never heard of calling for an adult as soon as the underage kid sees booze on the belt.

But .. if we had laws promoting courtesy, common sense, and personal responsibility only outlaws would be rude, stupid, and irresponsible.

I'd like a ban on writing checks at the grocery store. If you can't use a debit or credit card or pay in cash, you can't buy it.

You're completely right. It would be much better if they were rummaging around in their purses while they're piloting 5000lb missiles at 60mph down the road.

I understand the sentiment, but it's better that they wait. I also get testy when I get in a line at a toll booth behind someone that starts trying to find their change after they stop. I get my money ready ahead of time, but I'd prefer that drivers were paying attention to driving while they are driving.

A while back, I was at the grocery store in line. I stood and waited while the person ahead of me watched all of their stuff get scanned. The cashier stopped, and said the total as the customer stared at her. When the cashier said the total, the customer started digging around in her purse, pulled out her check book, and began to write a check.

I was mentally pummeling the customer.

You don't have to be driving while distracted to start getting your ATM card out before you pull up the ATM machine. It's not like they place them on highways. You have to drive into a parking lot and then usually wait in line first, plenty of time to pull out your card.

There is a law against tailgating but not for following. I get women (and an occasional man) not even on the phone, locked on my butt for miles. I'll move over a lane and they jet by to fill up the gap and follow the next car. WTF? These folks are in a fog.

I do fck with them sometimes just to see. I'll vary my speed up and down not quite enough to wake them up.

Supermarkets are simply an abuse.

Don't answer your cell phone if you are in a conversation with me. This is especially annoying if I'm giving an estimate. I'm your guest, you invited me to come look at your work to be done. Give me the respect I deserve by my driving over at a time convenient for you.

Can we get a law against using "your" instead of "you're?" I'll bet more people do that than any other single thing. It's like they never went to 2nd grade.

Or maybe they were just in a fog all along.

I have one friend (I have no idea why he is my friend) who has perfected the art of talking in such a way that you will never be able to interject a comment. What's more, he goes off in tangents when he reminds himself of something and may never finish his original topic. His run-on sentence can last for several minutes.

I'm really rude to this guy more than not. But, he's a Porsche guy. We're going to a concert tonight. I wonder if he can talk all the way through all the songs. If he does, I'll hit him.

Rick Lee 07-22-2011 11:09 AM

I want to ban the word "irregardless."

shadowjack1 07-22-2011 11:52 AM

Forgot about this one. Of all my pet peeves it has to be Tailgating. If a car is in front of me cars on the side, were am I to go?

+1
But, it is banned, stupid asses just don't know about it.

doug_porsche 07-22-2011 12:05 PM

had an idea last night. All political commercials should have a $100,000. tax surcharge per 30 second showing.
ALL political commercials.

Good luck on achieving this goal in a country that prides itself on competition, breaking rules and creating shortcuts, and the all-important "me first" principle not to mention the "get what you can" value. In order, for example, to get drivers to quit camping in the passing lane, there would need to be a social or societal value on trying to make one's actions and decisions fit within the whole of everyone's interests. That's not our agenda in this country. You want survival-of-the-fittest, this is what it looks like.

widebody911 07-22-2011 12:46 PM

How about the people who answer their cell phone while it's their turn at the counter? They carry on a merry conversation while everyone else has to wait.
