Vehicles or Engines designed by Porsche, other than cars

companion thread to capture blimps, Moonies, off-road and swimmers, etc.

If it was designed by the "old man" Ferdinand Porsche, then please use that thread instead.

This one is for the Porsche company (but could include stuff the design group did for others even if more or less secret, such as the balk ring synchros that everyone used on their transmissions)...

This cool little tractor was built by Porsche for quite a number of years, specifically to harvest coffee in South America:

I have and use one of these:

Had 2 of these. They were like $400 and leaked after a month's use. Junk.

And who didn't have a pair of these in the 80's?

Actually the tank pictured is not a production tiger tank. It was Porsches submitting during the bid process, that he lost. He has already developed 50 chassis so the we converted to the Elephants (with disastrous results). The engine was also Porsche. Hybrid vehicles have been around a long time.

The engine was a two 10 cylinder, 15 litre, air-cooled Porsche Typ 101/1 delivering 320hp at 2400 rpm. These engines did not power the tank's drive train directly. Instead it was linked to an electric generator which then supplied electricity to two electric motors. These electric motors would then power the drive train.

The rest is history
