They (snakes) like to climb up in the rafters of the shed to eat birds, chicks, eggs, and bats.

One of the BIGGEST rattlers I've ever seen fell out of the rafters one day, hit the concrete with a thud, flicked around, and died. I tell you, I had to change my shorts after that one.

Remember, cast iron skillet, 6" pieces, butter, garlic and cover for the first few minutes. Let cook for another 5 to brown and serve with your favorite sauce.

Let someone else tan the hide for you....

Bury the head

Thanks, chuckles are fun tonight

i have killed so damn many snakes in the 25 years living at that house that i stopped counting how many. and i have stopped making hat bands. i have stopped eating them. i have stopped coiling them up and freezing them in the freezer to scare hell out of people when they want an iced down mug etc.

i have ridden over more than i want to remind myself on dirty bikes.

i have driven over so many i have stopped counting with my trucks.

and i actually have to be brought back down from mars with an 18pak everydamn time i find one because every damn time its usually too close for comfort.

i have found them in the aircraft hangers.

i have found them in the pool equip areas.

i have found them in my :

laundry room

outbuildings

my garage

my front porch

my back porch

under my front window

in the pool skimmers

in the washes on my property

blah blah blah. i HATE THEM! i HATE THEM ALOT! KILL KILL KILL DIE DIE DIE!

and yes they do taste like chicken.

i have a 5" rattle from one of the bigger ones i killed sitting right on the front of my kennedy roll away toolbox to remind me everyday to keep a watchful eye out.

no i can no longer use a spoon to dispatch them. i am within 1/4 mile of occupied structures.

yes when i have time i get my rws pistol or rifle and use them. but most of the time there is NO time and i just grab one of the strategically placed prepositioned MUTHA OF ALL FIBERGLASS SHOVELS or HOES and SLAY THEM!

Just happened. Didn't get a pic, but I walked within a few feet of one that looks to be about 3' long nestled up against my house outside next to one of my fireplaces. I got a shovel and he must have seen me so he scooted INTO my effin wall! Not sure how to drive him out. Bang on the wall and see if he leaves and have my brother lying in wait with a shovel?

His tail was sticking out, so my Brother used a set of BBQ tongs to grab it and pull him out and toss him on the lawn. I then tag teamed with a pointed blade shovel.

Lived in the house 15 years, IIRC the score is Hugh 14: Rattlesnakes 0

I've got 18 acres of SoCal canyons and brush and am up against about 1,000 acres of wildlands. I've got deer, snakes, coyotes, gophers, bobcat and saw a mountain lion once. When I go walking in the back 40, so to speak, I'm definitely not at the top of the food chain.

wow hugh! appears to be a "pacific coastal rattler". these are known to bite. they can surf. they usually own some kind of VW product w/a surfboard rack on top. generally aggressive to all but especially when the "lokals only" boundary has been violated. tend to be employed at lokal skate/surf shops. tend to lay around and smoke weed all day thereby being very lethargic until stumbled upon. general education level is some high school or possible high school graduate. parents usually in high paying jobs and gone most, if not all of the time, lending itself the name "latch key rattler".

they mate constantly when ever they can find some "tail" , which is usually at night on some secluded beach.

well here in az. right now we still have 100 degree F days, but the nights are cooling down. the other night at the aeropuerto (2) of my guys walked back from another hanger and found a 1 ft long baby or a midget dwarf diamondback. he got the mutha of all full automatic tru temper shovel treatment by a kid who had never killed one.

the look on the virgin snake killa's eyes is precious to behold. im amazed his sphincter still held up. he was foaming at the mouth as if he had just seen the dreaded "man-bear-pig" and was all proud of himself for being such a "great white hunter/killa!"

we are taking off for a deer hunt w/my amigo , his son and my son next week. temps will still be warm even in the high country during the day. since its cool at night during the day the timber snakes will be active and moving about. timber rattlers are nothing to mess with. very very aggressive, very fast, and their coloration is some what like a 1/2 burnt charcoal briquet kind of grey with black and blend in very well with surroundings.

since this is a deer hunt (ho-hum-yawn) and this is the "happy hunting grounds" and the only way to hunt it is by gaining elevation and glassing(sitting down) or by busting thru door to door junipers/oaks, i will bring my .357 with snakeshot as a precaution. i hate snakes.

joe our score since june 6th:

1) rabbit stem to stern completed

2) thing stem to stern completed

3) chenowth 3 seater stem to stern completed

4) ghia stem to stern completed w/killa a/c

5) 76 914 engine done tranny done. entire car stripped down and ready for paint at martins

6) westphalia front end torn apart and waiting on parts. another stem to stern rolling restoration.

roughly 6 weeks per vehicle give or take a few days. 60-70 hrs a week. every last button/switch pushed. brakes suspension a/c engine tranny. NO stone left UNTURNED!

we have another 928 and a manxster showing up at end of month for resto work.

but waits theres more...............the DO-27 has to be ready by end of month for a test flight! oh boy!

it never ends.

just waiting here to do my "killa a/c" on my 911.

the other day to show you how my daze(days) go. i finally treated myself to a pair of the uber spendy "bosch oem" rear tail light lenses on my 911. get them after waiting a week. already for some real "pull my pud eye candy uber improvement action" and pull the 1st lense out of the porsche labeled box and install. open the 2nd box...................and the brand new oem bosch" lense is BROKEN IN HALF! so all i got was a 1/2 a pud pull with only the drivers side installed. wait another week for the other to ship. oh well parts iz parts.
