Concealed carry pocket gun Ruger LCP

OK here is the deal. I want a small pocket carry gun for short pants and flip flops. I carry a North American Guardian 32 and want a 380. I looked a 8 different ones and like the Ruger LCP Coyote gun. If so what about Gold Dot ammo? I always meet people who say they own a 45 but never carry it. I would love comments.

I'm not familiar about the coyote part but the standard LCP is ok in my book. Worth its small premium over the Kel-Tec. The S&W may be the best deal if a lasar is in the works.

I have owned a P3-AT since before the LCP was out. It is Perfect for all of the time defensive carry. I expect the LCP will be about the same.

As far as ammo is concerned, I stopped using expanding hollowpoint for .380ACP and have gone to FMJ. If I could find a commercial SWC, I would purchase it. Penetration is not very good with expanding hollowpoints, below 9mm.

Coyote LCP is the Texas (Rick Perry) edition.

It's what he shot the coyote with.

IIRC Tim Hancock got an LCP for his wife and he liked it a lot.

I got my wife the Taurus TCP after first trying the Ruler LCP. The Taurus TCP comes with an extra mag, has last shot hold open, has slightly better sights and has a smoother 5lb vs 8lb trigger. I got the black stainless model.

Both are small easily concealed pocket pistols.

I had an LCP for awhile. Didn't like the loooong trigger pull or the snappy recoil. Traded it in on a Walther PPK/S and am much happier.

Any pistol this size is going to have a snappy recoil. They weigh less than a pound, and the 380ACP round is not exactly weak. Imagine a 9mm this small!

The long pull is also common on these striker type pistols.

I personally do not like the kel-tec stuff in general. I have not shot the Ruger LCP. Ruger is generally good quality and durability.

I use a Colt Mustang for small.

Walther and Sig are very good choices.

Stay away from the pot metal pieces so commonly made in California.

The Sig P238 (aka Sig's Colt Mustang clone) is the Porsche 911 in a field of K-cars when it comes to pocket .380s. I sold mine (after a year of ownership, at exactly the price I originally paid for it) only because I'm a lefty and the safety is righty-only.

I have a Kel-Tec P3AT, it runs perfectly. I don't feel the LCP is any improvement over it except in the area of cosmetics--not worth the extra $100, IMHO.

The larger NAA Guardians (.32NAA and .380) are boat anchors. Sadly their additional weight does little to tame the "snappiness" that pocket pistols are known for.

First time I fired a Rohrbaugh 9mm, I definately used both hands! After knowing what to expect, I have practiced Right hand only, Left hand only, and both hands.

Of the small .380s I've handled, the Taurus TCP is most comfortable in my hands.
S&W Bodyguard has a harder trigger pull than the Ruger LCP.

I've handled quite a few pocket pistols since a friend came up with new holster for them.

My wife carries an LCP.
I carry a Walther PPK.
We are each happy.

Well... happy with the firearms.

I carry my wife's Ruger LCP in my shorts and bathing suit every day in the summer. It makes for a very nice summer carry gun. Replace the stock springs with a set of Wolff for more manageable recoil.

I pulled the trigger and got the Ruger and shot close to 100 rounds and made a nice pocket gun pattern at 15 feet. I am happy with my choice but who says I can't keep looking around. Thanks much for the advice.

My wife has put 1100 rounds through her LCP, mostly my reloads. No problems at all, just a nice compact, easy to conceal and carry .380

Hats off to Art for reloading .380's, to say nothing of policing the brass.
