$190K-$360K for a refurbished 911?

Yeah, it's rebuilt and fast, but those prices just seem way crazy.

And worth every cent if you ask me.

I'd much rather spend this sort of money on a Singer than an equally priced new car.

While they are impressing from an engineering standpoint, the "look at me factor" is too much for me.
I really liked them at first but I guess it was the wow factor that got me.
I said it before in the tech section recently, there are cars from members here on Pelican that outclass the Singer cars without even trying. (stylingwise, I mean)

That's true. Jack Olsen's car is a good example.

But... What if you had 300k to burn?

Jack's car is one of them, but there are others too.

If I had 300K that was laying in my way, yeah, well, maybe I would.
I'm sure they are a blast to drive, and very well built.
And seeing as they are possibly à la carte fabrications, 300K would most likely allow me to choose how it looks. For me, the rear grill/wing, the weird sidewalls from the tires and the rear arches don't look right so they'd have to go.

The Singer is for checkbook drivers who can't even be bothered to supervise their own checkbook project..

Thats silly as can be. I'll take a Carrera GT or any other much more sensible purchase for the money. Heck the depreciation on a brand new GT2 is worth it compared to the fact that it would be impossible to resell that thing.

I'd find a yellowbird before I bought a singer.

The Singer with the moving tail and the funky little mirrors is ridiculous, IMO. Want a $300K Porsche? Get one of these....

It wasn't until I saw the white Singer that I started to like them... the green and orange ones are a little too ostentatious.

how do you figure that? I mean, a CGT is impressive from an engineering standpoint, but what do you see as being so engineeringly cool about the Singer?

Nice... but as others have said... for that kind of money a lot of options out there.

CGT for starters, and a lot of tuners out here that can take a 911 turbo to 800-1000 HP

Performance also is boosted by the carbon fiber skin, which cuts about 400 pounds in weight. It's made by Irvine-based Aria Group, which is better known for building concept cars for auto shows.
Again, the CGT has an engineered (CF and aramid honeycomb) body, whereas it sounds like the Singer has simply styling panels which happen to be made from CF. Was there any engineering of those panels for say crash worthiness? ...or do they just look cool while being made of a lighter material?

Don't get me wrong; there is a lot to like w/ what they've done. . . but let's try to be real about what it is.

I mean that it is a very potent vehicle and there is an elaborate proces behind it to get where it is..
It's not like they just randomly threw some stuff together and hoped it would work out.
True, it is not as revolutionary as the Carrera GT or 959.
Probably all individual mods have been tried and tested before, but it's far from a weekend mechanic's accomplishment. You cannot deny that it is a well thought over, complete car.

Maybe it is not very impressive to you, but it is to me.

In the unlikely event of me sitting here staring at a pile of 200K 1 dollar bills all going towards my next car purchase, I do think I would consider a Singer 911 over a new GT2.

I have every faith that each car would get me far more attention than I want, and be far more car than I can handle.

Sad experience has taught me that 300K and 30K cars both travel at pretty much the same speed in big city commuter traffic.

In that situation, the car with the better air conditioning & stereo rules.

(edit) Not that I ever had a $300k car...but I was side by side with an Enzo for 1/2 hour or so on our last trip to Portland. I figure I was more comfortable & relaxed in my Mustang than this guy was...I looked over, gave a shrug in a "what can ya do?" gesture...he gave the same back, and finally smiled a bit.

Poor guy had to be chewing nails of frustration.

I know we are playing fantasy car dream here... but pretty sure $100K would buy me a car that would scare the cr*p outta me.

The Singer is a beautiful car thou... and prob more fun than a barrel full of lesbians, we can all agree on that!
