Anything that improves lighting is a plus for me. Kudos for BMW for being on the leading edge of lighting technology. The lights on my 2008 535 are the best of any car I've ever driven. The put the lights on my mom's new Murano to shame.

Very cool, but still won't prevent idiots from not paying attention to the stuff they illuminate.
Seems to me the biggest failure in the information transfer chain (day or night) isn't necessarily the initial detection of hazards, it's the 2' gap between the seat and steering wheel where no information processing occurs. |

What next on new cars?
Increasingly complex systems (that are impossible to repair without proprietary software and a ton of money) that will castrate power and performance for more MPG.
