The original version is also very funny, although a 'fringe' show. I'm hoping that it's successful in the US.

I think Jason Gann is a most underrated comedian. Some of his other characters are absolute classics!

The new American market one with Elijah Wood and Jason Gann is the 'new' version. The one in AUS is the 'original'.

I'm going to torrent the AUS version soon, but am enjoying the USA version too much and don't want to spoil it.

Gann's deadpan delivery slays me.

So far the writers are faithful to the fact that Wilfred is a dog - and cannot be counted on to make decisions like a human. I'm really enjoying it.

Maybe you are referring to the original Aussie version. I think both are funny.

From what I've seen of the US version I was laughing straight away.

it seems that the australian version plays the dog a lot more ambiguously than the USA version. very very funny.

He is like Tyler Durden meets Brian Griffin. That show has me cracking up every week.

Wow. Last night was extremely funny and deviant as usual, but they threw a curveball at the end. If you had a beloved childhood pet, this one's a good one.

The only thing I didn't like about last night's show was the visually blatant vomiting.

The show is supposed to be intelligent. Everyone watching would have clearly gotten the idea if they simply had him off screen making sounds. We all know that dogs puke in flowerbeds, no need to actually show it like some 5 year old's cartoon.

Other than that it's something we actually sit and look forward to each week.

So, the vomiting was too far, but constantly plowing the giant, jizz-encrusted teddy bear is ok?

Mmmm-k.

The bear is done tastefully. You can absolutely imagine a dog sitting there and bang away at a stuffed animal in the middle of a livingroom. It's not like they have him doing money shots all over the walls afterward.

It was simply the almost cartoonish need to have him projectile vomit for 30 seconds. Didn't fit in with the flow and style of the show.

the bear really cracked me up the first couple of times. in the aussie version, there is an episode, re. the bear, that goes something like this:

(post bear coitus)

wilfred: are you crying? really? come on.... oh, all right. we'll do it again, doggie style.
